Go inside Indonesia's mesmerising 'Blue Fire Crater' -Blue Lava
Visiting an active volcano in the dark may not be on everyone's bucket list, but for photographer Reuben Wu, satisfying his craving to see Indonesia's 'Blue Fire Crater' means we can also experience the mesmerising molten blue 'lava'.
Situated in East Java, Kawah Ijen, also known as the 'blue fire crater', is an active volcano which is well known for its molten sulphur streams that flow from the volcano's fumaroles (or openings).
What's unique about the sulphur streams at Kawah Ijen is the neon blue colour they burn when viewed at night.
British photographer Reuben Wu first found out about Kawah Ijen in 2009 when he was researching places to visit during a trip to Jakarta. Although he couldn't fit a volcano visit in to his trip - Kawah Ijen was immediately added to his list of must see places. And in 2015 that dream finally became a reality. He talks about his experience in our video below.
