Hah lol, got handed a mormon business card :D...

Went on a long walk today and near the beginning I saw a group of people sitting at a bus stop. 2 of the girls there were rather cute so I was rather pleased when one of them said Hi and talked to me as I walked by. BUT, the reason? They wanted to let me know they were mormons and wanted me to visit a web site, handed me a mornon "business card". I could have said SO much, but I just laughed and said no thanks. She refused to take the card back so I threw it in the trash some distance down, didn't want them to see me doing so.

I saw two in my neighborhood going door to door, and speaking to everyone walking their dogs. They started heading for me and my boys. We jumped in my minivan comando style like we were about to under attack by zombies.

My sons asked mommy why did we do that. I said do you want to have to dress like that and go door to door on a hot Saturday morning, then get down and hide.

Now I understand why people would do that when they saw my mother and I in their neighborhood. Mom is a Jehovah's Witness
LOL

5. Why were you afraid to have them see you throw it out?

You tried to give it back. That made it clear that you did not want the card. I would have made sure that they saw me toss it.

Sooner or later, they will learn that some people (most people) do not want their handouts. They might as well get disappointed early.

Always worried about angering or hurting people, possibly because I'm hyper sensitive myself. Otherwise I would have thrown it away right there

10. They count on that, you know. Like a weakness they can exploit.

Fuck them. Such people forfeit the right to be treated civilly.

Just walk around Salt Lake City. You see the results.

with bibles in hand and wanted to tell me about Jesus. I told them no thank you and that I was an atheist and knew more than they probably did about Jesus.

9. I know I could have made some very good arguments but...

But in the end arguing with religious people is a zero sum game. When you have hammered that kind of illogical thinking into your head no amount of reasoning and strong arguments is going to get you anywhere.
