Related: About this forumWhat do you think when someone says they are "blessed"?
When I read or hear someone say it, they don't mean thankful.
To me they are saying "gawd singled me out and gave me this great life".

(24,312 posts)Which I think is funny because I don't believe in luck, either. I just think shit happens, and I don't know why, and I'm content with that.

(8,021 posts)"My family is healthy, I'm blessed" = "I'm lucky my family is healthy".
but
"I'm blessed that god decided I should survive that car accident" = someone who doesn't understand physics.

(18,219 posts)that really means lucky......but lucky doesn't "praise the lord" enough. And they probably don't believe that there is such a thing as luck. It is all god, all the time. In their minds, it has to be god that is giving them these "blessings".

It pisses me off, really.
I am also ticked off by associates and acquaintances that want to "pray"
for me or any one else.
It leads me to believe that THEY believe that they have supernatural
intercessory powers with their alleged supernatural forces.
I used to work with a woman who "prayed" with co-workers for sales,
good grades, conceptions, etc. If something good happened, she actually
took credit for it.
