which should be shocking, but sadly, isn't. When my youngest daughter was 6 years old, a woman very similar to that turned her into a Christian hater for most of the rest of her childhood. Her best friend's mother was very religious. When her daughter was at our house, we respected that and stopped to let her pray before meals, etc. One day, our daughter was at her friend's house and her mother inquired about what church we attended. When told that we didn't attend church because we were Atheists, that Christian woman told her that she was to leave their house, and NEVER return because my husband and I (and my daughters) were all going to burn forever in hell and her daughter couldn't play with evil people.

My daughter ran home...sobbing hysterically, frightened and confused. I tried to go talk to the woman, but she just kept screaming "go away" through the door.

So, unfortunately, yeah, there are people out there like that...people who will traumatize children for their beliefs.

The one named "If atheists ruled..." Was horrific.

Being over the top is graded on a curve. Based on that, this isn't actually over the top at all. Plenty of churches and the con-men that run them encourage this kind of silliness among their "flock".

Pretty much every generation has a handful of things that get the religious nut's undies in a bunch. Let's see...when I was a kid instead of Harry Potter and Pokemon it was...Dungeons and Dragons and Heavy Metal. Video games were just starting to become popular at the time, and I think the NES was one of the targets of their piety. I know the TurboGrafx 16(They spent years yelling about Splatterhouse) was, even though only like five people on the whole planet owned one.

So yeah, I'm calling "Not satire".

I will grant it raises one interesting point: Pokémon is sort of analogous to cockfighting. You capture a wild creature, train it, and force it to fight for you on command.

Might reflect some level of 'normalization' for dog fighting/cock fighting, similar animal blood sports. Despite being in a fantasy setting.

I have known people like this. Sadly. This is quite possibly a real post.

I've heard stories like this and known people who say such for years. The sentiment is as common as the religious fears radiating from it. The mother is deluded and owned by the religious company she keeps and has grown up with. It's sad she and those like her are imprisoned by their false faith. But such is the delusion of religion gone mad. It's as old as humanity.

On the one hand, there are really some people out there in the world who actually think like this. On the other, this is from Yahoo Answers. It's really hard to say which should outweigh the other. The YA aspect really makes me think that it's probably a troll, but I think that we're going to have to stick with Poe's Law on this. It's impossible to tell, without the author explicitly noting that it's a joke or doing something to convince us that it's not.
