More than that.

He simply and utterly refuses to let superstition and religion have any authority over him.

Boy.... do they hate that!

I love it! I try to emulate it.

apologists, accommodationists and collaborators with those who champion magical, faith-based thinking, because he doesn't waffle or give ground to religious bullshit, and doesn't spare the feelings of deluded believers, as they think should be done. They love how superior attacking him makes them feel.

But of course, we wait in vain for them to actually engage him on the facts about religion. It's always "well, ok...he's right about that, BUT... (insert tone trolling du jour)"

IMO, she's still pissed about being rejected as a host, even though she's subsequently posted some bigoted things about atheists, including a suggestion that atheists in general and at least one DUer in particular wouldn't be supportive of LGBT rights if not for the fact that atheists (according to her) only want to use religious homophobia as an avenue to criticize religion. She also once claimed that if religion didn't exist, atheists "would go back to" (her words) being homophobic and racist. She burned her credibility to the ground a long time ago, imo.

I am really in the mood for pie.

What makes Dawkins a poopy head and a stinky little brat boy to some is that he takes no prisoners. He is definitely not atheism's poopy head though.

As for Dawkins, he's a fantastic biologist and activist in the atheist community. I have a lot of respect for him in those areas. Most of the criticism he gets is because he says what people don't like to hear. He doesn't try to appease the believers when he talks, and that's something we need more of.

That said, he's absolutely living up to the bigoted white male stereotype right now, and it's disappointing to see from someone who is otherwise mostly progressive. Ignoring all the crap pushed on us about him and looking only at what he said, in context, he's still a misogynist. Some of the stuff he's said is beyond just being insensitive. It's not "blatant hatred of women", but it's still sexism and it's still ugly.

I would even say there is misogyny among the atheist community: take a look at some of the comments in articles at richarddawkins.net, and you'll see what I mean. An example:

"All this infiltration of feminism and the LBGT bunch into atheism has ruined the cause for me. I rather now consider myself to be an igtheist and let the militants go on their way.
Just because I’m an atheist doesnt mean that I have to believe in any other persons activism, I’m a MGTOW and a MRA but didnt bring it to the atheism table, why should I have to put up with the feminists and gays ?"

Of course, having misogynists in the atheist community doesn't mean that the atheism is the cause of the misogyny. That would be an incredibly stupid argument; the lack of belief in a god doesn't have anything to do with furthering hatred of women--if anything, probably the opposite happens as people leave the patriarchal structure of most religion and its anti-woman views. (See: Catholic Church).

Most of the criticism of him (and by implication, criticism of all atheists) has nothing to do with the facts about religion and his views on it. Note that they never really seem to talk about that. People hate him for not giving any ground to peddlers of bullshit. They hate him because he exposes their views for what willful ignorance they are. His misogyny comes from elsewhere, not his atheism, and anyone attempting to criticize atheists and atheism because of that is using the tired "Stalin was an atheist" argument.

He's nothing of the kind. He does not hate women or think they are inferior.

And per your example....

Why SHOULD the author have to put up with a feminist and LBGT bunch that is oversensitive? And don't pretend like that never happens. (does admitting it happens make me a gay bashing misogynist?)

Of course the MGTOW and MRA stuff is just as creepy as oversensitive Feminists. How is this MGTOW guy representative of the atheist community? What does MRA have to do with Dawkins or atheism?

This current meme of the overt sexist pig quotient in the atheist community is a direct result of these ridiculous accusations based on a few comments and NOT of the vast majority of atheists' (and especially Dawkins') words and actions. How many of his accusers have read any of his dozen or so books..... or even "The God Delusion"...the only book religionists think he wrote? Hint: they aren't ripe with misogyny.

Is this close to your recipe?

Banana cream pie

Ingredients:

Servings:
8
Units: US | Metric
1 (9 inch) pie crusts, baked
3 cups whole milk
3/4 cup white sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 bananas

Directions:

1
Have baked 9-inch pie shell ready.
2
In a large saucepan, scald the milk.
3
In another saucepan, combine the sugar, flour and salt; gradually stir in the scalded milk.
4
Over medium heat, stirring constantly, cook until thickened.
5
Cover and, stirring occasionally, cook for two minutes longer.
6
In a small bowl, have the 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten, ready; stir a small amount of the hot mixture into beaten yolks; when thoroughly combined, stir yolks into hot mixture.
7
Cook for one minute longer, stirring constantly.
8
Remove from heat and blend in the butter and vanilla.
9
Let sit until lukewarm.
10
When ready to pour, slice bananas and scatter in pie shell; pour warm mixture over bananas.
11
If desired, make a meringue (you'll have 3 leftover egg whites) to top the pie, or just let the pie cool until serving.

for vanilla cream pie.... leave out bananas

for coconut cream pie..... add 1 cup shredded coconut to milk while heating(and of course leave out the banana).

(In the comments some pie enthusiasts said they cut down on the amount of milk)
