Atheists & Agnostics
Related: About this forumMy humble suggestion...
Greetings Earthlings!
I was over in that "other" forum and of course the "Dawkins has lost it" baloney article is there. But look at how the discussion is going over there!
There is a poster we all know who has to play the "get the last word in" game and spends more time making what he thinks are clever quips to posters he disagrees with rather than even remotely discussing the subject matter. He has over 50 posts with a single other poster in that one thread! It just goes on and on....
But look at the discussion of the same silly Op Ed here! Wow....even tho' we don't all agree, and there are even clever quips and jokes.... we are actually discussing the Op Ed!!!!
I suggest that it IS beneficial... even more fun! to post some of the stupid malarkey articles they turn into flames over there....over here and we can really discuss them... for a while... instead of playing the endless "I get the last post" game that a certain poster, who thinks that "other" forum is his pulpit, wants to play.
It might be worth it to go over there on a regular basis and see if there is something actually worth discussing here. I like our discussions much better.
But of course we don't want to clutter up our group with complete nonsense articles. But some really would initiate a good, fun thread if not hijacked by complete religious apologists and egomaniacs.

(49,533 posts)I've found it best to ignore them.

(48,181 posts)Nor do the 50 deep piles of bullshit initiated by Ignored. Sometimes I think I might be missing something, then I wake up in a cold sweat and realize it was just a bad dream.

(7,886 posts)then I remembered I ignored one person but didn't consider how many ops they made.
I do not regrat the decision.

(49,991 posts)For me, I never seemed to leave with any sense of time well spent.
But keep on fightin' the good fight.
I'm gonna have a sandwich.

(9,116 posts)It is hard to have a civil conversation with people who are filled with moral indignation at the fact you've merely dared disagree with them.

(17,505 posts)I don't want to engage in the other group's discussions, but sometimes they come up with the strangest and completely mind boggling articles about what atheists are supposed to be and do....even what religious people are supposed to be and do.
I was just suggesting scanning "over there" to see if anything that has become a ridiculous flame war might actually be worth dissecting over here, in a calm, intelligent, even fun fashion. No one wants to go over "there" and engage the 2 or 3 prophets of god that dominate the place.
I mean I only look over there once every month or so, so I was not suggesting we engage over there..... but over here. I mean who has time to scour the internets for anti-atheist hysteria.... except them? Let them do some work...that we can have fun with instead of the dreary hateful stagnation you get over there.
Well.... never mind then. It was just a thought.... that no one seemed to 'get".

(7,886 posts)I got sidetracked because I ignore the poster you were talking about, so I don't know the thread. That would be another good reason to bring topics over.

(7,753 posts)at least we shouldn't get alert trolled here. But now that my Ignore list has expanded (so many religionistas, so little time) I can't really see many new threads over there.

(13,485 posts)that's interesting I'm all for it, but I'm done with that place so it won't be me.
