Atheists & Agnostics
Related: About this forumReality hurts sometimes, but that doesn't make it any less true.
Religion was created by people in an attempt to explain the world before we had better means. As a species, we should have seen through it long ago. But here we are still mired in it's antiquated ways.
It's a pity that saying what is true is somehow considered wrong.
I spent about ten years of my life detached from reality due to mental illness. When I recovered my senses (thank you very much modern medicine and science) I was very grateful and happy beyond belief for the end of my ordeal. The thing is, I didn't have a choice all of those years but to see the world from an insane perspective. My brain was fucked up. A lot of people on the planet with perfectly healthy brains are choosing to view the world from a delusional perspective. I can tell them from experience that in most cases that only causes more pain and suffering. I don't know why anyone would choose that...aside from being forced to for survival.

(27,985 posts)It always really bugs me when people attribute medical healing to miracles. No, it's science and a ton of learning via open minds, idiots
Anyway, yay, you!!

(18,219 posts)and suggest that religion does more than try to explain the world. I have come to believe that it was created by the ruling class to control the masses.....and it has worked well.
BTW, haven't you heard that religion is not delusional. Stop offending them.

(17,505 posts)Religion is just ancient government.
Even when rulers get tired paying tribute to it, religion is still at the top of the government. The secular government we in the USA came up with in the late 18th century is STILL doing the same thing (just not "officially" . Prayer meeting.... Faith based initiatives.... tax free religious things....
