in an invisible man who lives in the sky might be smarter than those who do? Now I've heard everything.

*poster provides link to data*

The paper itself is really hard to read, but it looks to me like he primarily used some kind of survey data and the belief in god analysis is not significantly significant.

Anyway, there are studies that come up with the opposite conclusion and I can't see that this has been replicated, so I'm not going to put much stake in it.

Predicted exactly who said that before I went and looked. Thanks for the laugh.

Why am I talking to you ignoramuses anyway? I just got back from my Menses meeting and am smarter than all of you.

And WHATEVER happens with this supposed correlation between atheism/intelligence...do NOT start up that "Bright" BS again. Sheesh, even I could see that was a non-starter. Tin-eared and arrogant at the same time.

I hear you about the "Bright" nonsense, I cringe every time I think about it. Someone actually thought that was a good idea? Atheists appear too arrogant, let's think of something else to call ourselves...

I loved Zorra's comment the best!

But still not an evo-psych fan. I feel that field needs to get back to hard science and move away from the woo a bit.

I missed that!

It's tempting to bash the south because I live in the bible belt. We're usually the first ones to point out how fucked up it is (just ask onager), but every area of the country has its troglodytes.

And after the train wreck that occurred in the other room today, the timing was perfect!

For every gleeful pants-tenting anti-atheist op, there is an equal and opposite pro-atheist op.

This time it happened to be in GD.

As I was typing this my cat Pippi brought me the biggest Brown Recluse spider I've ever seen.

Holy crap, I can see every one of his six beady eyes from a distance. I thought it was a baby mouse at first.

Ours have caught a variety of critters, but never a brown recluse (that I know of).

eek.
