UN Briefing - Religious Discrimination In Ireland

Atheist Ireland just delivered a speech to the UN in Geneva. The topic is officialy sanctioned discrimination against non-Xians in the Irish Republic.

Interesting stuff. Apparently atheists have few to no rights under the current Irish constitution.

But this sort of thing could never happen in the USA...cough...

There are still laws on the books in many places that discriminate against atheists. It is up to the citizens to lead the effort against these laws.

The comic strip by a Canadian. There was one strip published around St. Patrick's Day that made me wince. There was a party and someone asked, "What did St.Patrick ever do for Ireland?"
"He rid it of snakes," came the first reply.
"What else did he do?"
"He brought Christianity to Ireland."
"What else?"
"Isn't that enough?"
. . . respective silence . . .

Just not catholic, so he went about knocking over the incorrect churches and putting up him own, basically. Little more complex but bshows you how it's not just believing, it's the right kind of belief.

Is a perfectly wrapped up metaphor about the Catholic Church.
