Janet Porter says her prayers can overturn the SCOTUS marriage equality ruling

This just made me LOL.

In my never-ending struggle to "keep up" with the high volume of newsletters and interesting things to digest, I ran across this:

Janet Porter says her prayers got Bush elected, so they can overturn the Supreme Court decision on gay marriage.

…Porter, the right-wing conspiracy theorist and creator of the anti-gay film “Light Wins,” reveals today that her prayers reversed the results of the 2000 presidential election to ensure that President Bush was the victor in Florida.

Since her prayers got Bush elected president, Porter explains, her prayers can also reverse the recent Supreme Court ruling in favor of marriage equality.

Porter is urging Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine to demand that the Supreme Court rehear the marriage case, but this time without the presence of Justices Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whom Porter believes should have recused themselves because they had officiated at the weddings of same-sex couples.

“If God can change the outcome of a presidential election,” Porter explains, “he can change the outcome of a Supreme Court ruling.”

That's a pretty big IF there, isn't it, Janet? I totally agree with her on that: IF God can change the outcome of a presidential election, he could do anything.

What arrogance.

Maybe she wasn't praying hard enough then.

So far, my prayers have not won me the lottery. How can I believe that he listens to her silly prayers and not mine????

Isn't god's will done anyway? What need is there to pester him with requests, and doesn't it imply that you know better?

So, if god doesn't overturn gay marriage, I guess that means he approves.

how perfect that there can be no concrete proof, only a belief

hard to disprove something that cannot be proven

We've all heard the same things: that all is pre-ordained by God, and He knows everything that has been and will be. Another "version" of the truth. Another attempt to explain the inexplicable.

If everything was pre-ordained, why reportedly get mad at humanity and send a flood to wipe them all out? "My baby!"

unanswerable questions that shouldn't even need to be asked

truly amazing and sad that this much energy is still being devoted to imaginary beings

I have seen people argue about Superman, which is basically the same thing, but harmless. Disputes over imaginary deities can and do cause much hardship.

It's just an ancient form of government, where supernatural forces approve the authority.... then tell you how to dress and what to eat and who to have children with, and what to do on what day.... see ancient totalitarianism's government.

"Ask Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine to file a motion for rehearing the marriage case at: 800-282-0515 . Then, pray to the God of the impossible."

Tell whoever answers that Janet Porter said to call, but you can't remember why. Make sure you get the name in there, though, and tell the person to repeat it to you to make sure he/she got it right.

Also ask for confirmation that DeWine gets the message personally.

On edit: Don't really do this.

Are prayers more likely to be answered if you give a lot of money to the church/prayer person of your choice? Ask and ye shall receive. So where the fuck is my Tesla?
