Oded Golan walks after nine year trial...........

Somewhere birds are singing, somewhere skies are blue, Oded Golan gets a 'not proven' verdict and walks on all the pending forgery charges.

Scholars are pretty unanimous that the alleged crimes of Mr. Golan were, shall we say, spot on, but they turned out to be hard to prove.

Mr. Golan might be thought to have been adept in selecting his alleged accomplices, in that since they were in Egypt, they couldn't practically be brought to testify.

So the James ossuary ends up sending nobody to the clink. Sigh.

Real archaeologists get a few extra gray hairs, and that's it. Believers ecstatic, of course.

also assigns a month in jail for related crimes..............

The month in jail isn't going to be served as there is some sort of 'time served' agreement in place.

Not a bad fine considering the million dollar deal that Golan was trying to score.
