Usually when I see a church marque with their cute little sayings, I just

chuckle and move on. But I saw one today that I thought was offensive, at least to me. It said..." Jesus was stripped, beaten, tortured and violated for you!" I think my offense was with the word "violated". So am I being overly sensitive? hyper critical?

I don't have anything of substance to add, apart from the whole snuff porn jesus stuff is offensive to me and to say it was done for my benefit makes me kind of ill and angry. It's like a big guilt trip thing.

that his spear in the side and being nailed to a cross on top of the beatings and spit were a violation of his person,
I doubt that makes it any nicer.

And I am assuming you mean you take offense because "violated" sounds like they mean raped. And yeah, that is pretty goddamned offensive. But I doubt they care.

They love that Burning Hell shit. A little rape to convince you to worship with them is not beyond their pale at all.

I mean - I think they didn't mean literally "raped" but I bet they don't mind that you might think that.

They expect me to praise a god that would do this to his son/self? How is that something to be revered?

No thanks.
