(6,452 posts)That I called the cops. I had a sign that read, "No Religious Solicitation", and warned the guys that if they stopped by again that I'd notify the police. They didn't listen... (BTW, no one was arrested, but they haven't been back)
I grew up mormon, and they seem to think that gives them license to bother me at home whenever they felt like it.

(2,237 posts)I had to take a class in college on religions in America (it was required for everyone at the college I went to), and I thought they said that the the Mormon church tells their members it's not worth trying to convert atheists.
The reason being that atheists tend to be nearly impossible to get to convert, which makes it a lot of wasted effort. People of other faiths are generally easier to persuade to convert to Mormonism, probably because most are Christians and Mormonism is heavily based on Christianity, so for the already religious it's not a complete 180 turn to go from say Christian Baptist to Mormonism.

(6,452 posts)I grew up Mormon, and they considered me "lapsed", or some such nonsense. Getting out of the Mormon church is a little like getting out of the mafia, and they never leave you alone. If they'd actually found out I'm an atheist, it would have made the love-bombing even worse.
In reality, the LDS church has a 0% growth rate in the U.S, and very few conversions from other faiths. The major growth has been from proselytizing in 3rd world countries where the people are either more gullible or desperate for a connection to the U.S. The Mormon church also has a policy of keeping members on the rolls of "active" members until death, whether or not that person is still actually a member. If you were baptized in the Mormon church and attended services once, you'd be a member forever, even if you never made another appearance.

(28,151 posts)besides, I live on the third floor so I'd have to lure them out onto the balcony but even then, the iron railing with the bars every six inches are too high to sparta kick them over.
