The Encyclopedia af American Loons has a real dandy this time...

There are some real kooks out there.

He is probably most famous for his claim that ? is actually 4, though with the caveat that it be a “kinematic situation”, which sort of misses some important points about how mathematics works and ? is calculated. Mathis also thinks that standard mathematical derivatives are false, and consequently that most of math and science is wrong well, predictive success to the contrary.

- So, according to this guy, if you have a string on a spool, then the length of the string depends on how fast you unwind the spool?

- Does this guy know that if you have a print-out of a diagram of your function, you can actually measure mathematical derivatives with a ruler?

Seriously, WTF? This guy is failing at Highschool-level math and he wants to revolutionize physics?

Now if he threatened himself or others, he might end up in an institution.

But even then people who should be in mental wards are allowed to wander the streets, or get on Greyhound buses to hijack them.
