Related: About this forum-94 F at Dome A, Antarctica, and it's two months till their winter solstice
https://www.wunderground.com/aq/dome-a/zmw:00000.1.89577https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dome_A
Dome A or Dome Argus is the loftiest ice dome on the Antarctic Plateau, located 1,200 kilometres (750 mi) inland. It is thought to be the coldest naturally occurring place on Earth; scientists believe that temperatures can sometimes even drop below ?102 °C (?152 °F) in the winter.[citation needed] It is the highest ice feature in Antarctica, consisting of an ice dome or eminence of 4,093 metres (13,428 ft) elevation above sea level. It is located near the center of East Antarctica, approximately midway between the enormous head of Lambert Glacier and the geographic South Pole, within the Australian claim.
I never knew until now exactly what Dome A was.

Antarctica: where you never need a refrigerator (at least away from the coasts)

(86,650 posts)3. -94F isn't all that cold when you think about it in planetary
perspectives. I lived in a places in the lower 48 where it hit -50F a couple times while I was there, with -40F or near that for days on either side of that cold snap, got up to about -10F during the day. If it's that warm in the antarctic going into their winter, I hope it gets a bit colder and stays cold for the season.
