I lost a good friend today.

Last edited Wed Apr 2, 2014, 02:01 PM - Edit history (2)

His name was Noel. He'd fallen and had a closed head injury that put him in a coma ...... they tried to wean him off life support and finally today the family decided they had to let him go. He was the kind of person who always had a warm, genuine concern for everyone around him and could make you feel happy just having talked to him. His silly giggle, his kindness and wicked sense of humour will never be forgotten. I'll miss him so much.

I hope everyone here is doing ok and wish you all peace and strength dealing with those you've lost and are missing so badly. I know not everyone is religious and apologize for those these songs might offend, I just really need something to believe in right now that lets me know he's gone to a good place. And don't mind me .... I've taken a whole bunch of stuff to get through this, so may regret it in the morning. My heart is just broken that I won't see him every again. He was such a special man.

polly7, I am so sorry for your loss of Noel. The loss of the young seems so senseless. I have no words that can ease your pain, but please know that I offer you my condolences and warm thoughts and cyber hugs. It hurts so bad because we love so much.

He wasn't yet 50, and I worry and feel so badly for his family. He'd just had two new grandchildren he was so proud of. Maybe my dad and he will meet up somewhere and say 'Hi neighbour' as they always did. Just such a shock ... this is a small town, hopefully we can help his family get through this. He was a very loved person here and I'll never forget the help he gave me so many times and the fun we had. It's just so hard losing someone you think will share those times forever, I can't even imagine not seeing him again.

It just seems so surreal that we will not see our loved ones again. I still want to call my sister and chat, even though she's been gone over 3 yrs. now. It just doesn't seem real.

I can't even imagine not being able to share with mine. Such a terrible loss. They say time heals, I haven't found that to be the case with my dad, I still expect to hear his voice when I see my mom's number on the phone. Thanks for your reply Trudy, Noel was the kind of person you just felt good to be around. He and his brother had recently been on 'Canadian Pickers', for anyone who watches the show. He was hilarious .... his dad had collected some amazing things over the decades - shops packed full of it. The 'picker' guys had to extend their stay an extra day just to film the bit they did. Anyway .... thank you, and, again... my deepest condolences for the loss of your sister.

I've lost my mom and dad too, I just have a brother left. I've lost over half my family and I'm only 50. It is so strange...

Keep your good memories of the friendship close and let it fill your heart with happiness when you think of Noel.

I'm so sorry for all you're going through.

You have some wonderful memories I would think. That's no consolation right now but in time you will come to cherish that sound in your heart, that giggle you spoke of and it will comfort you . . . in time.

As you know, it really doesn't get better but it does get different.

much love to you Polly.

edited to add; I LOVE Dancing In the Sky. What a beautiful song and a lovely voice. Please, don't be afraid of offending anyone here. We all care for one another so much. Thank you for sharing those two pieces. and

it's always such a tragedy when we lose someone who touches our heart, who lightens our spirit, or who is part of our soul.

and i really mean that--i'm still grieving for my mom & it's been over four years (and my little dog & that's been over 9 months).

sometimes we are resilient and recover (in varying degrees) from our losses sooner rather than later. sometimes losing someone in our life takes us down a longer road. which ever path you travel, i hope your journey is filled with love and peace.

your friend sounds like a wonderful guy to be around and i'm sure he'll keep you in his thoughts wherever he is. maybe, in some way, he will even let you know that. i believe that even though you may not be seeing him for awhile you will have the chance to see him again. (and then you could tell him everything you didn't get a chance to say--or you could tell him now. he'd probably listen. and maybe even giggle. )

the video you posted for "dancing in the sky" is such a lovely song (and that girl's voice is absolutely beautiful on it it). thank you for sharing that. take good care.
