Immortal song: "Father" by Lynn
Immortal song: "Father" by Lynn
불후의명곡 - 린, ´애비´.20160213 This song was originally written, lyrics and music by Chae Bek Ho. This is Lynn's version, so the original lyrics may be different. There are some other recordings where they have collaborated. I couldn't find English subs anywhere so I wrote a translation below. In Korean tradition, historically, marriage for a woman, implied going to the household of the husband's family and submitting to the not always pleasant authority of the mother in law. Implied is the heartbreak of separation for the bride's parents and daughter. The relationship between father and daughter is the focus of this song. I noticed a few comments on youtube indicated some of the Korean viewers either would or did sing this song at a wedding ceremony.
I know your heart, is like a farmer's field parched by drought,
Your heart is a lone evergreen in a wilderness field blown by rainy winds.
So it is, so, so...my daughter is too pretty in this new white dress.
You must live well, you must live happily, this is your father's only wish.
It seems just a couple of days since your tentative baby steps,
When did you grow up to leave my side?
Like a river flowing by, the time just goes
You still will remain deep inside this father's heart.
So it is, so, so...Don't cry you will stain your pretty dress.
Bear with this, you must bear with this, that is all your father asks.
So it is, so, so...my daughter is too pretty in this new white dress.
You must live well, you must live happily, this is your father's only wish.
