Mokpo's tears - Lee Jung-pyo

목포의 눈물 - 이정표 (Jungpyo Lee)

Nice performance by Lee Jung-pyo of the 1935 South Korean traditional popular song. Original composer Son Mok-in, writer, Moon Il-seok. Many Korean singers have recorded this well loved song over the years. There was no translation available that I liked so I tried my own (fwiw).

The boatman's song fades away while
Samhakdo waves seep in deeply
On the pier the maiden's clothes are wet here and there
Are these tears of farewell? Mokpo's sorrow.

300 year's longing arms below Nojak peak
Traces of dear love smoldering, heartrending sentiment
The wind of Yudal mountain embraces Yeongsan River.
Pining heart missing my love, Mokpo's song.

In a deep night, when the crescent moon shimmers,
Another old wound being renewed.
If my love doesn't arrive, I will send my heart still.
Tied to the harbor, loyal, Mokpo's love.
