놀면 뭐하니? 가야금이 뭔 줄알아? What's gayageum? - 국악, 국악버전
Go-eun is well known for her mastery of the gayageum. She began performing both twelve string and 25 string gayageum in classical and traditional styles at age 7. She has won many awards as a junior performer. In this video, she gives a nice introduction to the gayageum, a Korean stringed instrument, and traditional Korean music ( 국악 ). She says the instrument originated in the Kingdom of Gaya in the Sixth Century. She describes the three types of gayageum, including the current 25 string, and demonstrates the associated different styles of play. She says the music from the 25 string is similar to the 19th Century 12 string Sanjo gayageum. Jeongak is the earliest style.
Enough English subtitles to make it worthwhile, I think.
Here's an amazing contemporary piece where she displays her genius:

Very talented young person!
Many thanks! I've just added Go-eun's channel to my YouTube subs.
I've also subscribed to another gayageum artist, Luna Lee, for quite a while now.
The instrument lends itself to a LOT of different styles.
Cover of Santo & Johnny's 'Sleepwalk':
...or the Ventures/Chantay's 'Pipeline':
She also does Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, Santana, etc.
