I have a relative working at Wal Mart. Yes they pay taxes. Many work 2 jobs. They can't make it on just Wal Mart. If they are married they are little luckier. Many can't afford their healthcare. Yes some vote republican but many vote dems.

The Standard Deduction + Personal Exemption is $9.700. If you're a single person with no other credits, exemptions or deductions, that would be the least one could earn without paying federal income taxes. This amount would be subject to Social Security/Medicare and possibly state or local taxes.

$9,700 would be the equivalent of 1,300 hours at the federal minimum wage. About 25 hours per week.

Outside of management, my understanding is that few Wal-Mart employees actually work fulltime.

she was there when a union vote was defeated...and then left with all the rest of the crooked and criminal management
and went to......Walmart! To be on the Board of Directors, I thought.

She had a white streak in her hair and was known as The Skunk.
