More than one-fifth of swing-state voters could change their mind before the election, according to a USA Today/Gallup poll on Wednesday showing President Barack Obama with a slim lead over GOP nominee Mitt Romney.
Among voters in twelve key toss up states, Obama leads 48 percent to 46 percent. Both candidates have locked down a similar percentage of voters: 38 percent are committed to backing Obama while 39 percent are definitively backing Romney.
Five percent of swing-state voters are undecided, seven percent said there is some chance they could change their vote, and 10 percent gave it a slight chance.
The poll of 1,096 registered voters in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin was conducted between September 11 and September 17. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

(33,497 posts)Obama leads 47.9% to 44.6% for Romney for an average lead of 3.3%
Obama's five best states are:
New Mexico (+10)
Pennsylvania (+9.7)
Michigan (+6.2)
Ohio (+4.2)
New Hampshire (+4.0)
Romney's five best states are:
North Carolina (+3.2)
Iowa (-.02)
Colorado (-1.3)
Florida (-1.4)
Wisconsin (-2.7)
The only swing state Romney actually leads, according to RCP, is North Carolina with Iowa truly a toss-up.

(527 posts)Just think of all the money that Obama, Romney, and all the PAC spend trying to get these indecisive people to vote for their candidate. Who are these people?

(24,412 posts)I'm not 100% sure they even exist. Moreover, what could possibly even change their minds at this point anyway?
