Efforts that promote hard work and personal responsibility over government dependency make America strong. When the economy is growing and Americans are working, everyone involved has a shared sense of achievement, not to mention the basic sense of pride that comes with the paycheck they earn.
However, over the past four years, those kinds of opportunities have been in short supply. We're experiencing the worst recovery since the Great Depression. Unemployment has been above 8% for 43 straight months; 47 million Americans are on food stamps. Nearly one in six Americans now live in poverty.
Under President Obama, we have a stagnant economy that fosters government dependency. My policies will create a growing economy that fosters upward mobility.

(106,886 posts)In vying for the Republican presidential nomination, Mitt Romney has wasted no time in lending support and encouragement to his partys efforts in Congress that would make college even less affordable for middle class families. He dutifully endorsed the budget offered by Congressman Paul Ryan and said his own plan was on the same page.
One standout feature of the Romney-endorsed Ryan budget is that it would deliver the biggest reductions to funding of Pell grants in the history of the program. According to one newspaper, the popular federal Pell Grant tuition program, vastly expanded under President Obama, would take a big hit under the far-reaching fiscal 2012 Republican budget blueprint released Tuesday by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan.
Romneys allies in Congress opposed student loan reform that passed as part of health care reform, and would allow big banks to once again act as middle-men in the process. While Romneys allies on Wall Street would again reap windfall profits from struggling college graduates, the plan would make college less affordable for middle class families.

(9,992 posts)have blocked EVERY effort by Obama to create jobs.
The GOP has INTENTIONALLY kept unemployment high so your sorry ass would have a shot at becoming POTUS.
And I hope Obama hammers that point home in every debate he has with you.
YOU and the GOP are the problem, Mittshit, not Obama!!!

(35,015 posts)This country is seriously fucked up. The mind game being played here, is that any form of government assistance/entitlement is BAD and we should all be ashamed because we get it. Even if we've paid into it all our lives and DESERVE IT. Even if we need it for a short period so we don't die of STARVATION. I fucking hate Mitt Romney and the GOP assholes who are so clever at framing.
