Hillary Clinton Plans Ad Barrage To Beat Back Surging Bernie Sanders

NEW YORK - Democrat Hillary Clinton plans to pour half of her presidential campaign's budget into advertising in the first three months of this year as she seeks to fend off an increasingly tough challenge from chief rival Bernie Sanders, according to a summary of her spending plans reviewed by Reuters.

The first-quarter advertising blitz would represent almost a doubling of the proportion of money that the campaign devoted to such spending, on average, during 2015.

The report, prepared by her team's finance committee, aims to paint a picture of a fiscally prudent campaign operation that has been spending heavily on digital tools and organizing last year and is now ready to ramp up ad spending as the 2016 White House race moves into a critical new phase.

I can see the HRC campaign selecting a juicy tidbit or two from the debate if Hillary can manage to get him rattled.

" I went to Wall St, and I told them to cut it out"

Bernie Sanders has a great team and we can be sure they are advising him of what to expect.
On the other hand team Hillary..well they will go for the throat because they are desperate.

The strength, or weakness of that comment only works within the confines of DU GD-P.

As for going for the jugular, I believe Hill will. The gloves are coming off. Count on it.

The illusion that must be created with the actual attack is an unmasking of a hidden reality, not the twisting of truth.

Hillary's inability to do that, as demonstrated most recently with the assault on the effect of single payer, has been her problem with this approach in the past.

It's not that she lacks the capacity to do the cutting, rather, it's that she demonstrably has little to no capacity to do it with the required subtlety. Rather than coming away clean and heroic, she comes away looking like she enjoys the ritual of wearing the blood after a kill (remember 'we came, we saw, he died'??).

And now, in anticipation (and perhaps some glee for their ratings) the national media has flashed the news that Clinton is about to do what Clinton has done in the past, which makes it all the harder to be able to slash and then walk away cleanly.

People with memories, real or created, expect this will not be a clever flick of the sharp edge of truth, but an attempt to tackle the opponent and maul him.

Many expect this to be disgusting.

of tyrants and terrorists may vary. I'm not inclined to keep score on who is best at it. When an Osama, Ghadaffi, Idi Amin or whoever, bites the dust, I celebrate in my own way. If my values happen to match those of Hillary, so be it. She, being a politician, is obliged to seek the approval of even the most sensitive.

I am not.

Mostly, war, chaos, and assassinations that come in the wake of chaos do not make true leaders anything like elated.

on edit: You see, or you should see, that such celebrating is very unseemly. No leader reflecting on such, would really want to look like that.

But, again I don't mean to impose my opinion upon you. I'm just reporting what I've seen during my life.

while MOM attacked them both with sorta silly stuff. Lots of handshakes and back slapping between B and H during and after breaks.

Pundits keep predicting B and H will go nuclear on one another in the debates. Hasn't happened yet, doubt it will happen this time. May be a little sharper, but not the bloodbath that GD is hoping for.

JMHO but I guess we'll know soon enough.

I can't wait to see her switch modes and try 'rattling' Bernie with more typical low-brow Clinton 'juicy tidbit' attacks........the Interweb's wrath will light up and call out her ugly game just like they did when Chelsea came out and lied on her mother's behalf......

Bring it on......I welcome the world to see Hillary switch to lying-attack mode.....it will expose the kind of dirty politician she really is.

Perhaps stop by at a nursing home and chat with some patients especially ones whose families don't visit. Then maybe stop by an animal shelter and play with the puppies and kittens for an hour or two then do a stop at some college and give a pep talk stripped of most political positions, you know just tell the young adults and other students that they are an inspiration they are doing a good job and they are our future.

Putting out ads to remind the public of your very public and attacky lies is a very very bad idea. A real abuela would know that and try to recover her focus on the people she wants to help/lead. That is if she really wants to help and or lead.

Negative ads aimed at Bernie have a different effect than they do on other people.

Even people not particularly familiar with Bernie have a vague sense that he is honest and straightforward.
These ads will will cause them to look at Bernie and his numbers will rise under the barrage. People hate unfairness.

I have been surprised at just how competent his campaign has been, and at how good Bernie is at fending off attacks.

You may be forced to change your view on his chances for victory soon.

as The People finally are getting wise that they are designed to manipulate. They are old school and don't work anymore. In fact neg ads have a reverse effect these days and they will backfire on Hillary. Hillary's campaigners are running an old school campaign. Bernie's campaigners are running a modern campaign based on truth; good use of social media and not relying on SuperPac money.
