I don't trust Hillary to handle foreign affairs. She keeps trying to start wars with brown people.

(6,409 posts)Is this what we want? I know many Democrats want a "more robust" foreign policy than Obama's, but how much more robust? Whole lotta saber rattling going on here.

(62,325 posts)if it were just for this alone. The Warmongering Neocons have wanted to go to war with Iran for over a decade now.
She made it clear with her Iraq War vote where she stands on the Neocon War Agenda.

(22,000 posts)Just an aside. I was talking to my wife about our upcoming vacation to the US that will be two weeks. I told her if Clinton won it would be very easy for me not to do anything political while there, but if Sanders won it would be hard not to get involved and help out.

Democrats in Iowa in 2008 chose over Clinton the man her announcement mocks. He's been twice elected to the presidency.
Notably bad move by Hillary Clinton.

(10,751 posts)...by coming out against Iran, one of Bush's "Axis of Evil" trio of countries.
It certainly does not indicate support for Obama and Kerry's great accomplishment in inking a nuclear deal with Iran. I guess she is trying to distance herself. Or maybe she does not wish to acknowledge yet another great accomplishment by Kerry as Secretary of State. Certainly his accomplishments have overshadowed hers, and they have also been less warlike (Libya - "We came, we saw, he died, har de har", Syria - "Assad must go, we must have a no-fly zone to fight Isis, even though they have no aircraft" .
Another great move on Hillary's part. Not.

(11,709 posts)I've been giving some posters Hell tonight for what I feel are cynical and damaging attacks against Bernie, but this is something entirely different. This has serious ramifications.
This is Obama's former SOS publicly contradicting one of his biggest foreign policy successes. If she's going to do that, she had better have a Damned good reason for it and holding a few sailors overnight isn't a good reason.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)warmongers. Some of her close associates at State were neocons, why she pushed for the disastrous invasion of Libya, now a horribly failed state which was once one of Africa's most advanced.
She lost me with her vote or Iraq and the reasons she gave. We must stop these neocons from draining our country dry with their constant wars. It saddened me that day to see someone I had long respected and defended joining one of the country's worst administrations who were clearly lying us into war, at a time when we needed every voice raised agaiinst them.
But for me this country comes before any politician. And once I saw where she really stood and who she stood with, I could not support her.
I am glad I supported Obama, I have disagreed with him on many things, but if Hillary had been president right now, there would be war with Iran.
For that alone, my support for Obama was worth every minute devoted to getting him elected.
Same thing now with Bernie.

(615 posts)This week has seen Hillary Clinton dishonestly attack Bernie Sanders with Republican talking points over his universal health care plan and send her child out to spread the fear-mongering lies, undermine Obama on diplomatic relations with Iran and take the Republican approach to sanctions. What will next week bring?
last1standing
(11,709 posts)But this is far more serious. This is a former SOS under the current administration publicly contradicting a major foreign policy decision on the same day it went into effect. She is signaling that she will undue any attempts at peaceful relations with Iran if she wins the Whitehouse. She's basically trying to force Iran to break the agreement by starting their nuclear program back up.

all verifiable and very reasonable.
I understand it was not a stroke, but she DOES have a history of several previous blood clots. I personally am not convinced that it was only a concussion. But, we will never know.
I think we need to look forward, and just respect that as people get older, there are usually things that go wrong.
This could be said for both Bernie and Hillary.
I would like to see Bernie's MD come forward with a letter of good health.
I would like to see Hillary's MD come forward with a letter of good health that was updated to current. There is one from back in the summer, if I understand correctly.
They need to be on a level playing field.
I support Bernie because I believe in his values.
But, I worry about health for both of them.

(4,229 posts)When Clinton became a senator I could see her being a great, even historic senator but when it was all over I didn't really think she did that much. I truly thought she would be like Elizabeth Warren is now calling the GOP out and stuff.
Then when Obama made her SOS I thought given her connections and having Bill as an advisor she would make an incredible mark.
It made me sad when I read of internal arguments that she was always such a hawk and that she really didn't do anything historic as SOS either.
My buddy who I worked with, who was from Algeria says he thought it was because as a woman nobody in the middle east respected her. However I remember Albright as being a very good SOS. Of course the middle east did not require as much attention and the Israel/Palestine thing was handled by Clinton himself.

When asked on 60 minutes about this many children dying because of the Clinton Sanctions,
Albright replied "It was worth it!" !!!!????
The death of 500,000 brown children "worth it"??

(6,133 posts)I was open minded as far as I could go this time too, though I was always behind Bernie, I figured she would win.
But who is she running against with this latest thing? I'm confused. So she's trying to run against Bernie, and at the same time run against the Democratic Party?
The Republican Party for some time now has had problems. She is creating many problems for the Democratic Party, her and DWS.

(449 posts)I'm not a fan of trying to keep people under our thumb indefinitely. Especially because these political tools meant to send messages to the government of Iran end up hurting the people of Iran who are, by and large, innocent.
For all of the times Hillary has said she's a progressive, this is NOT a progressive move.
I'm going to be happy when she's out of national politics.

(11,709 posts)The only other option is that she really is mentally unfit to act as Commander in Chief. She's agitating for war without reason or advantage for anyone but weapons manufacturers and oil producers.

(11,709 posts)She destroyed her chances months ago when she unleashed her trained monkey, David Brock, to attempt to smear Bernie. At this point, she's reminded too many of why they turned to Obama in 2008.
After dangerously, and significantly, undermining the sitting president she once worked for on a cornerstone of his foreign policy, she's toast. If Obama is seen to support her after this, he will be seen as undercutting his own policy.
