2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhat's up with Gallup?
They're about the only major poll that doesn't have Obama ahead. Checked out realclearpolitics and they're the only one that has a tie right now. I followed the link to their site and they haven't updated for a couple of days. I thought they were supposed to be a daily poll. Or am I confused?

(1,016 posts)I just think there is something wrong with them generally. Aren't they supposed to post every day, not be stuck on two or three days ago?

(25,415 posts)He says the 4 main tracking polls, Rasmussen, Gallup, Rand and Ipsos all combined are above 3% for Obama. They were the same the week before as well even though Gallup was better for Obama last week. Obama seems to have at least a 3% lead nationally and is ahead in major swing states right now.

(1,016 posts)Shouldn't they be showing...
09/15-21/2012 today the 21st?
Or at least
09/14-20/2012?
realclearpolitics has gallop's 19th data there for two days or more.
When does gallup update? Aren't they daily? Are they late?
That's what I'm asking.

(8,064 posts)rass has had romney up for the majority of the last week and a half, but there is not record of it on realclearpolitics. there is a whole week of rassmassan's polling that is missing. they are fudging their numbers to make it look like they aren't the only ones out of step with all the other polls.

(827 posts)Come on guys, we should know better.
They are polling people in the South and states like Montana, Idaho etc that Obama has no chance at winning and will lose by great margins. The fact that Obama is even when those are included is a great sign. It's all about the state polls and Obama is in a clear lead there. He'll wind up with a low popular vote %(51-52%) but I predict an electoral landslide, maybe the same as 2008.

(4,551 posts)Montana came within 3 points of voting for Obama in 2008, and while that probably won't happen this year, it's nowhere near as red a state as Idaho. Bill Clinton won Montana in 1992 and almost did it again in 1996.
By contrast, Idaho hasn't voted Democratic since LBJ in 1964.
