2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI read earlier that Obama is ahead in Wisconsin. Now Yahoo news says he is slipping in the polls!
Can people really be THAT fickle???? So frustrating!

(34,857 posts)In their 'Who's your candidate now' poll, Obama leads Romney 44-43. Interesting because Romney has almost universally led in their online polls since I can remember.

(96 posts)Seems like the only path for Romney is through Ohio so i'm more concerned over that. Wisconsin can go red for all i care.

(4,551 posts)A bit harsh, I think.
Wisconsin has not voted Republican since 1984, and so far there is no evidence it will do so this year, either.

(4,551 posts)MILWAUKEE President Barack Obama came here Saturday to try to block Mitt Romneys back-up electoral path.
Wisconsin could prove key for the Republican nominees hopes in November, especially with the consistent lead Obama is showing in Ohio, Virginia and Florida polls. And given recent trends in the state including Gov. Scott Walkers wins in both 2010 and the June recall Romney seemed in good shape to pick up a state that until recently was solid Democratic territory. And that was before he picked Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate, which helped put Romney neck-and-neck in state polls in the weeks after the selection.
Polls in recent days have shown things moving back toward Obama, but the presidents late afternoon rain-soaked rally here was part of a stepped-up effort in the state. Obama and his super PAC allies have been trying to match Romney on the states airwaves and the campaign has been using volunteer reinforcements from next door in Minnesota and Illinois for phone banks, door-to-door canvassing and other get-out-the-vote efforts. And while this was Obamas first trip to the state in months, Vice President Joe Biden has been on the ground here twice in recent weeks.

(827 posts)he doesn't need Wisconsin, but if he can win it, Ryan's future is smashed. If he couldn't even help win his own state with a R governor, why should anyone take him seriously nationally? Remember how that hurt Edwards since he couldn't even guarantee to carry NC?
Still surprised Ryan tied himself to this loser. He must have known that a loss killed any long term WH hopes. They must have fed him some lies about Romney's chances before he agreed to accept. I think Rubio would have declined had it been offered knowing the same thing.

(5,815 posts)That would be just too, too rich! Liar conning another liar! I can't wait for the books to start coming out after the election is over when all the jacka$$es start spilling their guts. We might get eye strain from all the reading we're gonna be doing! LOL

(827 posts)So they lie to Ryan showing him Romney's electoral path to victory which has obviously proved to be false.
He's done as a national candidate should Romney lose. This is 2fer for Obama. Win re-election and knock out the Republican shining star.

(19,458 posts)They're full of shit, basically. Never. ever, read anything on Yahoo and think that it's news.
Saw that same article, and it's bullshit. It feeds into the RNC saying that the President has a "wisconsin problem," right after the President drew 18k + in the cold rain yesterday. Don't worry.. Yahoo is a bunch of idiots.
ps. if you're new to DU, the worst thing you want to do is post threads about bad poll numbers. Though I'm sure that you're not one of them, around this time of the election season we have a rash of new DUers who think that they're demoralizing the Democrats by finding the most ridiculous articles and bad polls, and are usually pounced upon.
For the first 100 posts and if you decide to actually start a thread, things like this aren't a great idea.. they're better said in an existing thread... that's what I learned when I first started here. Don't post bad news, even if you're just asking about it, as your first few threads. welcome.
