In N.H., Bernie Sanders blasts Donald Trump’s ‘bigotry and racism’

NORTH CONWAY, N.H. — Bernie Sanders started the day here by swiping at Donald Trump — but not chief rival Hillary Clinton, who will also campaign in the Granite State today after assailing the Vermont senator yesterday in Iowa as a dreamer whose ideas “will never make it in the real world.”

Sanders’ campaign has fired back, but the progressive firebrand himself has declined to lash out at Clinton in the hours since, mainly focusing on a few policy differences, such as Social Security, and pointing out he doesn’t have a super PAC.

(snip)

Sanders may amp up the rhetoric later today, as he hosts town halls in Concord, Bedford and Hudson, but his sharpest attack this morning was aimed at the Republican front-runner billionaire.

“Unlike Donald Trump and some other Republicans, what we do is bring people together, not scapegoat and engage in bigotry and racism,” said Sanders.

(snip)

“Nobody will be a stronger defender of women’s rights to choose than Bernie Sanders,” he told the crowd this morning, marking the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade abortion decision. “Republican family values are about defunding Planned Parenthood. I want to increase funding for Planned Parenthood.”

(snip)

At one point, criticizing the high cost of health insurance, Sanders asked the crowd to shout out their deductibles.

“$6,000,” said one woman.

“$8,000,” said another.

“$12,000,” said one man, as the crowd gasped.

“You lost,” Sanders replied.

as opposed to no coverage AT ALL

But it is time to thank Obama for being so courageous to do ACA and move forward to single payer, for sure.

criticism of Donald Trump's careless and hateful words from the three Democratic candidates, it would be just fine with me.

There's a fixed number of registered Republicans. In general elections like 1980 some Democratic voters went over to Ronald Reagan and became "Reagan Democrats." Yuck. What a term. Trump may get the Pukes' nom and he may get some "Reagan Democrats" in the general, but by and large, I like it when our candidates blast Trump's bigotry and cluelessness.

While it's clear that Republicans don't traffic in facts, Trump's lead is among Republicans planning to vote in the primaries or caucuses in their respective states. It doesn't hurt for our blue team to remind the general electorate that a far better model of citizenship and statesmanship is offered.

The Republicans certainly don't have the spine to do it and CNN might as well change their name to the Trump News Network or TNN.

Peace to you.

Better to hang out with elements that prize our democracy over corporate media ratings.

Excellent post. Thank you.

it's more than that, Trump is a corporate media creation, brought into and kept in existence for the primary purpose of diluting, diverting and misdirecting righteous populist anger at our plutocratic establishment.

Thanks again, saltpoint.
