He's a Calvanist idiot, like many in western Michigan. Get a bowl and milk because he's coo coo for Cocoa Puffs.

Glad that he's going to go down in flames.

Went to Mona Shores, dropped out to go to college.

About the only thing I miss is the sunset over the lake at the oval. Ok, that and a decent wet burrito. And Meijers. But that's it.

Left the area to go to college, though my alma mater was Reeths-Puffer. Was the wet burrito at Aron's (sp?) on Whitehall Road? That's the only place I remember ever having one.

There is The Station Grill on W Broadway (near Henry), and a place in the Heights somewhere that I could never remember the name of. There was also El Camino tacos on the corner of Henry and W Broadway for truly authentic fare, but I think that place disappeared a long time ago.

Thank God I've now got Sandy Levin (redistricted from Gary Peters who beat that raw sewage Knollenberg). Hoekstra is about the WORST we've got, even though Upton and Rogers are down there, too. I wish the earth would open and swallow up Dick and Betsy (and her idiot brother) ... they're godawful.

There are many liberals here in rural western lower peninsula. My location is rural Newaygo county (the most rural of the rural in western Michigan). I still do not see bumper stickers around here. Plus, I live near a college town, Big Rapids. The kids are all fervent Obama supporters, as are their professors. The University about doubles the population when school is in. I sincerely hope they all vote. I have word, from a very reliable source, that the Democrats have a huge organization to target students here. Ten thousand plus young people will help big time.

Please do not sell us out just because we live in the Manistee National Forest.

For 5 years, I lived in Eastern Washington (the Tri-Cities) and 'Doc' Hastings was the Congresscritter. It was lonely for this liberal ... and would have been near-death if it wasn't for the local lesbian political activists. Two of my best friends (co-workers) were active and they dragged me along to one of the meetings. I was, of course, hooked ... and became their straight male "mascot." (lol)

So, I'd be the last to fail to appreciate how it feels to be a liberal living in Dumbfuckistan. At the same time, I'm all too aware of how maddening and frustrating it is to be in an area overrun with people whose political attitudes are so totally unhinged from anything rational, reality-based, or humane. Rush Limbaugh fan clubs. YECHHH!

is a Senator. I've done lots of fundraisers for Sen. Stabenow and she does a good job for Michigan. I can't believe how often she makes it to all points north to stay in touch with constituents and her staffers are all top notch.

and we had a discussion about it. It was certainly a disappointment.

But after 12 years in the Senate, and many, many very good votes, I still support her and work hard to get her re-elected.

Perhaps if I had higher standards I and others could abandon her, let her lose, teach her a lesson!1! Let Hoekstra have her seat.

Oy.

She's too much like (yechh) Harold Ford, Jr. for my taste. I will, of course, vote for her... but her major qualification is that she's NOT Hoekstra. I enjoy the benefit of being an independent liberal. I also agree with the "boiling frogs" analogy ... and see only a distinction without a difference in the rate at which individual protections under law are eroded by the Reich Wing slide.

What an unfair comparison. No surprise here though.

BTW, you may note when my post was written. I was getting ready for work and didn't have a lot of time to extol her virtues so simply cited the one most forefront in my mind. But if you want to present that as the only redeeming quality a Stabenow supporter can muster, have at it.

By "independent" did you mean to say "Faux News" like twisting of words to suit your agenda? Cause if that's what you meant by the word "independent" (thus giving the word a whole new meaning) then yep, you are correct.

then our Senate majority will be solid and free of filibuster.

We had that in 2008, but unfortunately it didn't last long.

It will be hard to pick up more than 2 seats. The 2 that can be picked up are Massachusetts (Warren) and Nevada (Berkley). Other than that it may be hard, although I guess we can potentially count Maine (King) as a 3rd seat if he caucuses with the Democrats.

So if we don't win the house, which could certainly happen, then there really isn't much point to changing the current senate rules since we wouldn't get any good bills anyways.
