Related: About this forumMitt Romney Calls NYC Parent a Liar
"I don't believe that for a second.." In other words, you're not telling the truth, as Mitt looked at the parent of a NYC student with that disdainful, arrogant smirk. Just heard this on the Ed Show and watched the video. Could. Not. Believe. It.

During the NBC Education Nation summit's question and answer session, today, a New York City parent and school board member cited a poll which he claimed showed that the teachers union in New York City enjoyed support from parents "three to one" (video below), reports Mediaite.com.
However, Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney completely disagreed: I dont believe it for a second. I know something about polls and I know you can ask questions to get any answer you want.

The poll was a Quinnipiac Poll and has been quoted widely in the media, especially in NYC. The Ed Show called to ask what the "manipulative question" was and it was "Who do you trust more with your students, the teacher's union or the Mayor?" Once again, Romney steps in it, big time.

(11,366 posts)I amuse myself some mornings by goading the right-wingers on there. Two things I have noticed:
1. They always take the bait. No comment of mine goes unresponded.
2. After a goading time varying from immediately through about a half-hour, 90% will call me "gay" or "a girl".

I want POTUS to push Weird Willie right to edge of complete meltdown during all 3 debates by doing what POTUS does best, state the facts. Right when POTUS knows he's got Romney's goat, he can go in for the KO punch.

WILLIAMS: Let's hear from a student.
AUDIENCE QUESTION 5: Hi, my name is Nick Hilgoyle (ph). I'm a high school student from New York and I just wrote a book on education.
My question is considering that the advent of standardized testing has increased to historic levels, causing a lot of teaching to the test, billions of dollars into testing and really the killing of creativity in many ways, how would you as president change this trend and how do you put students directly in your administration and let them have a voice in this policy decision-making process?
Would love for someone from the media to follow up on young Mr. Higoyle!

(13,776 posts)So basically he called the parent stupid, or gullible.
I don't understand how he so consistently fails to restrain himself from being so rude and condescending--he can't even fake being polite. There are widely understood RULES for polite behavior--they are very clear--and he is such a failure as a human being that he can't even mimic them. It's not rocket science.

(56 posts)The question was "teachers unions vs the mayor" not "Do you approve/disapprove of teacher's unions". When you run generic polls you get very different results than when you run polls involving specific people.
Still Romney's arrogance is unbelievable. I look forward to his downfall and the tell all books that follow.
