Democratic Rep. Chris Murphy is pulling ahead of Republican nominee and former World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon in the Connecticut Senate race.
Murphy leads 48 percent to 42 percent, in a survey released Wednesday from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling. The survey of 801 likely voters was conducted Sept. 24-26, and has a 3.5 percent margin of error.
Both candidates are unpopular in the poll, with Murphy's favorable rating at 36 percent and an unfavorable rating of 44 percent, and McMahon also underwater at 42 percent favorable to 49 percent unfavorable. In addition, McMahon's company WWE is at only 17 percent favorable, with 51 percent unfavorable.
The PollTracker Average shows Murphy ahead, 44.3 percent to 39 percent.

(4,551 posts)Linda McMahon has greater recognition since she ran 2 years ago and he is only known in one part of the state where his district is.
She has millions more to spend than he does.
But at least the DSSC is on the problem and they transferred more staff & resources to CT last week to help out.
And now Murphy is beginning to lead in more polls. I believe Nate Silver gives him a 75% chance of winning at 538.
So things are looking up, but more hard work needs to be done, with perhaps an assist from Bill Clinton, Joe Biden and others who could visit CT.

(14,400 posts)in yet another case of "people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones" McMahon has been late several times paying her property taxes.

She's banking on people not being happy with Murphy missing rent and mortgage payments and she's been feeding the stories to the Courant.
Unfortunately for her, but gleefully funny for the rest of us, she didn't bank on the Courant hunting her records to find out that she and hubby Vince have been late paying taxes four times on their Greenwich home and one time on their summer condo.
I'm really hopeful this will bring that harpy to her knees. Having Joementum in there was bad enough to replace that simpering asshole with McMahon would be a slap in the face.

(25,415 posts)But Linda McMahon is a multi millionaire and has relentlessly attacked him on everything from his mortgage to missed rent payments to God knows what else. But she is bringing herself down in the process, kind of like Scott Brown is doing in Mass. And in these states, we just don't usually like nasty campaigns. She has nothing to say about the issues and now there are great ads attacking her on her views about not funding contraception. Also another poll about her saying something similar to Mitt about the 47% has surfaced. People are getting sick of her mud slinging and frankly sick of seeing her on tv over and over again. Sometimes there is such a thing as over saturation and her throwing all this money at yet another seat is annoying. Chris Murphy is actually less well known because everyone knows Linda is Vince McMahon's wife and he owns the WWE. But this poll is encouraging in that he has a small lead.

(14,400 posts)I'd hate to see McMahon buy this seat. I think the fact that she's been late on property taxes several times is going to blunt her attacks on Murphy pretty nicely. At least I hope they do.

(25,415 posts)but he isn't from Connecticut and doesn't seem to know the race well. He also must have not seen this poll either. Or that this has been a really ugly campaign so far from Linda McMahon with no issues really discussed.

Just because you're ignoring this situation, it doesn't mean it's not true.
We deserve to hear the truth from Murphy. He needs to come clean. Like right now.

(72,790 posts)Clear up this mess. NOW. Don't let media, pundits, citizens dictate the game.
He may lose my vote if he doesn't clear this up soon. Won't be voting for McMahon, but I will explore other options.
This is a good article.

Murphy declines to say whether or not he was current with his second mortgage. Oh boy, not good. Why? Because

Why decline? Clear it up.

(971 posts)Linda McMahon is going all out to win here. More of her ads than his ads. Constantly attacking Murphy as an absent politician, missing votes, cozy with big banking lobbyists. Chuck Todd rates this as a possible GOP win.
