Mittens campaign starting to look a lot like McCain's

Rallies at airport hangers because of a lack of enthusiasm from supporters.

And needing the VP candidate to campaign with the Presidential nominee. Because of lack of excitement for him.

he was ok doing small rallies and palin getting more support. as long as they would vote for him in the end.

i kind of wonder if the after election of this campaign will be worse than the mccain palin thing. at least in 2008 they could blame bush and the economic disaster that hit and of course the Dem primary with OBama and Hillary and Obama being the NOminee was huge in itself.

Remember how they tried to claim Palin got bigger crowds than Obama, that Obama could only draw folks with the Decemberists opening for him, etc?

They truly thought their "permanent majority' Rove bragged about was indestructible, and that's why when the American people rejected conservatism, they couldn't accept it really happened.
Hence, all the delusional birtherism and "ACORN stole the election" conspiracy theories after 2008. The right simply can't accept the fact that they lost and that a liberal black man wiped the floor with their beloved Sarah and McCain.

They're doing it agin this time - with stuff such as the hilarious 'unskewedpolls.com."
When Obama rolls over them and wins a second term, they'll still be in denial and unable to accept reality.
After all, they've had 4+ years of Rush and company saying he would be doomed at the ballot box in 2012.

today in RCP - Obama 48.9, RMoney 44.9 - O +4

Four years ago today - Obama 47.9, McCain 43.7 - O +4.2 (today was the first debate and the date that the separation between the two started to grow even bigger).

Keep in mind Sep 26, 2008 was 2 days after McCain suspended his campaign and pretty much ended any small chance he had and 12 days or so into the financial meltdown. He was at 45.7 on the 24th before he suspended the campaign. Then he had some of the biggest 1 day drops. Obama is also in a better bposition in states like FL, OH, NC, VA and others than he was in 2008.

That's the amazing thing. At least with McCain it was understandable. With Bush at 25% McCain really never had any chance. The hact that he even kept it close and actually was ahead after the convention is astounding. Butnce the market collapsed and Lehman and AIG went under no Republican was going to win. The election ended on Sep 14 when Lehman fell apart. Everyone knew it. Even Bill Clinton admitted as much.

Here's Bill Clinton in Esquire Magazine back in Febrary of this year:

CLINTON: Well, the Democratic nominee was going to be elected president in 2008. Because the economy was already in bad shape. The recession had begun in 2007, and even before that we were generating no new jobs, pay was stagnant, poverty was increasing, health-care costs had doubled, and college costs had gone up 75 percent after inflation. Before the financial collapse. But on September 15, when Lehman Brothers failed, the race was over. The only presidential election in my lifetime I think that ended before the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. It was done.

So, Clinton, as astute a political guy as there is acknowledged the race ended on Sep 14. The fact that 2 weeks after that and after he quit his campaign and restarted in a matter of hours McCain was right where Romney is now is staggering.

Obama is actually a pt higher than where he was in 2008. Romey is 1.2 ahead of McCain but I suspect he'll drop a bit more over the next few days.
