2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIt's going to be a long weekend, it seems.
Normally, weekends are fairly slow on DU. Fewer people are online and posts don't get as many views. That's not surprising. Most people use the weekends for recreation and family time and skip sitting in front of a screen and reading the endless stream of opinions that fill DU's forums.
This weekend is likely to be a little different. Already, this morning, I'm seeing more threads being started than usual. It's not surprising, of course. The seemingly all-important Iowa Caucuses are on Monday. By Tuesday, we'll have some actual real data to look at regarding the Democratic race for the nomination. I'm sure we're all looking forward to moving from polls and estimates to actual numbers that really have an impact on the delegate count for the convention.
Sadly, it's likely that some will allow their intense anticipation of Tuesday's numbers to overwhelm them. I'll be here, reading threads, since I also have to work today. I won't be attacking any candidates, though, or casting aspersions on anyone who is posting things about the campaign today.
All we have to do now is wait. On Monday, Iowans will make their way to their precinct caucus location and group up according to whom they support. Heads will be counted and reports of those numbers will be made to the Iowa Democratic Party. They'll be tallied that night, and the results will be available Tuesday morning, with all precincts having reported in.
What will those results reveal? I can't say. They will, of course, be very revealing. On Tuesday morning, I'll be here, watching reactions to those results. But, it will still just be one state out of 50. We'll get lots of chances to see results. We'll be able to watch the delegate counts grow for Democratic candidates. Trends will develop. Polling will no longer be needed. We'll have real numbers to talk about.
I'm looking forward to that. Very much. See you all on Tuesday.

(146,329 posts)to this thread, really. Nothing we do on DU this weekend will have any effect on the Iowa caucuses. They'll happen, and then we'll find out what the results were. I'm just not going to stress about it at all.

(10,847 posts)And you are absolutely correct. Wait and see is the best approach to the weekend.
On edit: I did notice a deleted response below. So maybe it was objectionable to someone after all! DU is a funny place these days.

I do not know but I will be glad to see whats really going on. I'm so tired of hyper inflated, religiously tinged rhetoric with no facts behind it.
That said i'm waiting for the last poll today before the caucus. Its an exciting time MM, just as the real game is starting....
