Related: About this forumGeorge Soros donates $8 million to boost Hillary
The massive check brings to $8 million the Hungarian-born investor's total 2015 giving to pro-Clinton groups.
The super PAC that received the $6-million check, Priorities USA Action, raised $25 million in the second half of 2015, according to a report it filed Sunday evening with the Federal Election Commission. The haul brings the PACs tally to $41 million for the year, and left it with a strong $36 million in the bank headed into the year.
Other major donors in the second half of the year included Hollywood mogul Haim Saban, who combined with his wife Cheryl Saban to donate $3 million, as well as Herb Sandler and Donald Sussman, who donated $1.5 million each. The union-affiliated super PAC Working for Working Americans also donated $1.5 million.

This is huge news. George Soros is a liberal hero. In 2004, he spent over 20 million to oust George W. Bush. He was one of the few friends we could count on to counteract the Koch brothers and other Republican billionaires. After 2004, he never really got too deeply involved in elections again. Seems like he is back with a vengeance. We now only need Warren Buffet to contribute and we would be golden.

The responses were positive towards George Soros. People want to engage in revisionist history, but he was and still is a liberal hero to us

(7,010 posts)elections. The money in politics is the first thing that has to go. If we get the influence out of our political system, it gives regular people a chance to serve the people.
Health care, climate change, our crumbling infrastructure, Wall Street reform, etc. Nothing changes until we cut the cancer out of our political system.
Thank you for kind words. Respect!

We agree that -- if we can't stop this corrupt campaign financing model -- I'd rather see Clinton getting that money from Soros who has acceptable values rather than seeing the Koch monsters or Israel-interests-over-US-interests Adelson funding Cruz or Rubio based on twisted values.

(6,960 posts)This is 2016.
The whole milieu of this election thus far is anger and disgust towards super rich elites taking our country from us.
The Sanders phenomenon is a reaction to the bankers, money manipulators, corporatists, et al.
With all of the Goldman Sachs money and the other special interests, Wall Street, and corporate dollars Clinton has taken the last thing she needs is $8 million given by Soros to the Hillary super PAC.
But, I'm glad the Clinton super PAC has felt desperate enough to take this money -- it just makes it that much easier to make the case for the reality that Hillary Clinton is the one percent and is beholden to the one percent.
