Monday night weather forcast for major Iowa cities.

CITY --- TEMP --- FORECAST --- PRECIPITATION --- WIND

Des Moines --- 32 --- snow/wind --- 100%, 5-8 inches --- 27 mph

Ames --- 30 --- snow/wind --- 100%, 5-8 inches --- 28 mph

Cedar Rapids --- 31 --- snow/wind --- 70%, 1-3 inches --- 25 mph

Iowa City --- 32 --- showers/wind --- 60% --- 24 mph

Davenport --- 31 --- showers/wind --- 40% --- 24 mph

Note: the major college towns are Ames and Iowa City.

I'm afraid this does not bode well for Bernie (I hope I'm wrong).

On the positive side; I live in south Florida

1. Snow will not keep Iowans away from the caucus--those who plan on it will go.

There are lots of caucus sites in neighborhoods around the state that it usually wouldn't be a problem to get to one.

said the snow wouldn't start until much later in the evening. I think the caucuses start at 6:30 or 7:00, so the voting should be over in most areas before the snow gets heavy.

6. +1. It could be problematic for college kids if they're planning on driving

back to school Monday night... maybe. Depends on how far they have to go and when the snow starts in earnest. Or they might decide to spend the night with their families and miss class on Tuesday.

to join in antiwar demonstrations back in the '60s. If they're serious enough to go to a caucus in the first place they'll cut a class or two to do it. In any event, if the snow is really bad on Tuesday some classes will be either called off or thinly attended anyhow, since not all students live on campus and might decide to stay home.

8. Yup. If I were teaching at one of the universities, I'd be expecting some "caucus flu"

10. I just checked hourly weather.com--says merely "cloudy" with only 20% chance of showers...

...through the caucus hours, and then 30% chance of showers starting at 11 pm going up to 50% chance by 2 am the next morning. The storm (rain, snow, wind) doesn't hit until 6-7 am the next morning. This was for Iowa City. I'll check some other cities.

I was wondering where the OP prediction is from. It seems wildly different than weather.com.

Des Moines is similar.

Davenport - even less chance of rain/show. (0% to 10%, 6 pm to 10 pm)
