2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSpeaking from a Berner perspective,
the amount of work that's been accomplished has been absolutely incredible. Tens of thousands of events throughout the country, tens of thousands of volunteers phone banking, hosting events, people actually going to Iowa from all over the country, on their own dimes, all for one candidate. One. No other candidate is garnering anywhere near this many boots on the ground and boots on the ground is all that matters on election day. I'm 60 years old and I've been waiting a very long time for the people to rise up against the monied interests that have usurped our Democracy. Now is that time and we are the people who can make it happen. We're more than living history, we're part of it.

(41,600 posts)corrupt politicians, corrupt police departments, corrupt government agencies (FDA), etc..., got way too greedy, for way too long and thought their gravy train would last forever by allowing MEGA WEALTHY Koch Brothers, Adelson, etc to buy our elections...that was to be how they would hold onto their power forever.
They forgot one thing - WE THE PEOPLE are 99% of the population. They are 1% of the population. We too have money. It's just not as much....until the 99% pools their money TOGETHER. THAT makes us a force to be reckoned with!
We're going to win this Revolution.
Thanks to Bernie - because he had the guts to actually speak truth to power and woke us up from our stupor! We're now awake and we're voting en masse!

(23,867 posts)I am having an impossible time trying to see anything positive about this right now. We know what went into this. We know the value. Why the hell can't half the Dems see? What is wrong with them? Are they part Republican? I don't do half ass when we can have it all.

(29,251 posts)It's kind of stunning how many DUers are not willing to see the depth of corruption/corporatism on HRCs side. The false meme of competence/pragmatism and the false application of feminism don't cut it in reality.

(23,867 posts)Thanks for that. I'm regaining my strength again. Besides, today isn't the end, but only the beginning. Bernie's not going to lose enough to put him out of contention yet.
Each day is a new beginning. We can get new faces into our party. I just see this as a waste of time, when we have our next JFK right in front of us.

(23,867 posts)Thank you so much. It's very clear we have a huge amount of support for progressive ideas. And to be honest, I fully expected Sanders' campaign to garner next to no support. I was so wrong. But even better, I now see much more progressive support than ever. And that includes Socialism. We have made progress, but it's slow. But then lots of things are slow. I'm recovering from years of illness, and it's very much the same. Study, learn, work, work, and maybe see some results.

(22,271 posts)doesn't win X-amount of states. But this is a different campaign. They bow out due to lack of funding from the Big Boys. Bernie's funding isn't from the Big Boys, it's from us, and I say the Bernie campaign needs to ride the primaries out all the way through New York, Oregon, Washington and California -- all of which could win it for him
This is just the beginning . . . there are a lot more states to go.

(502 posts)Eight smiling faces sharing a meal. I thought to myself that it was a quaint group, we usually get dozens of people at our weekly meetings. Then I read the caption that they were in Iowa! It just made my heart fill with joy. I have a disabled child and will not be traveling for Bernie but so glad to see central Ohio represented there!

(35,442 posts)When John Edwards and Obama did this in 2008, the media chalked it up to charisma or looks or personality. With Bernie, it's pure message.
