Back on December 19, Hillary Clinton closed out the third Democratic debate with a potent message to the people of Goffstown, New Hampshire, Thank you, goodnight, and may the Force be with you.
The Star Wars nod came one day after Star Wars: The Force Awakens obliterated box office records, grossing a mammoth $119.1 million in its first day of release. It was also, perhaps, Hillarys way of paying respect to two of her biggest donors: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and his wife Katie McGrath, who each donated $500,000 to the Hillary super PAC Priorities USA back in June.
Abrams is one of Hollywoods bigger Democratic supporters. Back in October, he hosted an intimate $33,400/ticket roundtable with President Obama in the living room of his Pacific Palisades home to raise money for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. And now that Hillarys presidential campaign is in full swing, Abrams opened up about why he thinks shes the best candidate in the field.
I will say we are supporting Hillary, Abrams told The Daily Beast. We believe in her as the strongest candidate. She does have the experience and the politics. She is compassionate, and right. When I look at the people who need the support that arent necessarily getting it, I believe that she would provide that. That is really the way that we have to approach how we vote: look around and ask yourself, who needs to be brought up? Who needs to be emphasized? Who needs compassion? And I find that thats something that shes got.

(6,280 posts)... Responses that fit into the juvenile category such as rich guy supports rich politician, and you will get nothing from the Sanders supporter camp deriding Michael Moore-$50 million, or Susan Sarandon-$50 million etc. That is because they are endorsing Bernie Sanders. If they had came out with endorsements for Hillary Clinton, they would be put in the same category as JJ Abrams, and immediately thrown under the bus. It's one thing to be simply hypocritical, but quite another to spread the peacock feathers of hypocrisy with reckless and joyful abandon.

(4,775 posts)Bernie is not rich, and his policies are most decidedly geared towards helping those who are not rich. So your diagnosis of hypocrisy just wrong.

(6,280 posts)The fact that Bernie supporters choose to differentiate rich people by who they endorse is hypocrisy period. By your logic, which makes no sense at all, is if a rich person endorses/donates to Hillary, they are somehow evil with nefarious intentions , and if a rich person endorses/donates to Bernie, they are good and it should be obvious by the halos above their head and the wings on their back . It does not make one single bit of difference the net worth of the recipients of those endorsements because the intent is exactly the same. To get that person who is endorsed elected. You should go pedal your fairy tale of good and evil to someone who's that gullible.

(4,775 posts)You started out debunking the rich person endorses rich candidate meme upthread. I pointed out Hillary is rich while Bernie is not, which right there shot down your argument.
But it goes even deeper than that.
"It does not make one single bit of difference the net worth of the recipients of those endorsements because the intent is exactly the same."
Why it makes a difference, is where the Clinton's wealth comes from. It comes from the global corporatist-funded Clinton Foundation, and from the exorbitant speaking fees they collect, ostensibly for imparting their wisdom to many of our most offensive institutions, such as Goldman-Sachs. Supposedly the Clintons get around $200,000 to make these 2 hour speeches, but everyone knows the speech is cover for a pay to play scheme, where the corporations are buying favors and future considerations (often cabinet appointments).

BLAH BLAH BLAH...I stand by what I said, and you have proven nothing.

Like the hamster in the wireless commercial, I don't know where to go with that.

(30,058 posts)Income inequality, education and making a better world before Bill was president. The big Brea winner in their family was Hillary's earnings as an attorney. This whining about the Clintons wealth is silly. The whining about people with high net worth supporting a candidate is silly also. The wealthy are entitled to their opinions also. Not having wealth does not halt my opinion of whom I support, I look for a candidate who is most qualified and at the present time Hillary is the most qualified candidate running.
Thanks Brooklyn for your post.
