Final Poll Gives Edge to Sanders, But Has Bernie Already Won Iowa?

http://www.commondreams.org/news/2016/02/01/final-poll-gives-edge-sanders-has-bernie-already-won-iowa

Small donor contributions smash previous fundraising record as countdown ticks for pivotal caucus outcome

While the latest poll before the pivotal Iowa caucus on Monday shows Bernie Sanders holding a slight edge over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, observers argue that the campaign's clear momentum and success in bringing a bold populist agenda to the mainstream already signifies a substantial 'win' for the once-longshot candidate.

According to the poll conducted by Quinnipiac University, released Monday morning, the Vermont senator is ahead of Clinton 49 to 46 percent among Iowa's likely Democratic caucus-goers.

What's more, Sanders' advantage was secured by a substantial 62 to 35 percent lead among first-time attendees, underscoring the deep anti-establishment and grassroots support that his campaign has generated.

"Iowa isn’t about who wins the most delegates; it is about who gains momentum and legitimacy. What Sanders has already won is very real." —Robert Borosage, Campaign for America's Future

anyone ever hoped - even myself; I've followed him for years now, loved his ideas and politics, and he was always what I considered my "dream" candidate along with Elizabeth Warren, but I never honestly felt he'd go very far, so the support he's enjoying just ASTOUNDS me, so yes, in my opinion, no matter what happens, he's won VERY big.

I only had a surface awareness of Bernie before he announced. I am stunned by his success.....it certainly says something good about America.

I just heard Farron Cousins say it doesn't really matter, and I think it's nice, but defeating the corporatist candidate is always sweet.

Hillary is definitely having a disappointing showing. She was supposed to trounce everyone else.

Not happening.

Exactly 1 year ago today, the Des Moines Register poll (http://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/politics/iowa-poll/2015/01/31/iowa-poll-hillary-clinton-big-lead/22661331/) showed Hillary leading the Democratic pack as first choice of 56% of Iowa Democrats. The trailers were Elizabeth Warren 16%, Joe Biden 9%, and Bernie Sanders 5%. The obvious story should be Bernie momentum. I have noticed that lately the media story has turned to "they are neck and neck." Now if Hillary wins by 5 or 10 points they will be trumpeting her victory, not her precipitous loss of support.

Was/is ripe for some sort of revolution. The American people are notoriously patient but there is a limit. I believe we have reached that limit,we are fed up to our ears with the Bovine Excrement that has been thrown at us for the last 40 years. We are ready to see our elected officials do the jobs for the people rather than for the corporate hegemony .... Time for the change that is sorely overdue...

They've got Hillary with a narrow lead.

Where did ABC get that? The Washington Post? CNN?
