2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSanders is a trojan horse
Whose unrealistic points of view will usher in a new era of right wingers in power. All over delusional ideas that could never be accomplished in the first place Sanders supporters will end up destroying every bit of progressive accomplishment over the last decade. Is self glorification more important to the Sanders supporter than actually winning? I'm certain that a good majority of them know that he has absolutely no chance of winning. I certainly hope I am wrong but if I'm not you should be beyond ashamed of yourselves for aiding to the election of Trump/Cruz/Rubio who will without a doubt destroy the environment, end the ACA, and pack the supreme court with even more conservatives.

Spare me the scare tactics about "electing Trump/Cruz/Rubio" <-- a very outworn canard .. give it up.

(11,546 posts)Stop backing a conservative, Wall Street backer, corporatist. Bernie has been shown in many polls to beat the repubs while Hillary has less of a chance to do so. If you would make a moral choice instead of a pragmatic one, Bernie would be elected easily.

(454 posts)Look, the country is hurting, a nation my ancestors have fought and died for since the start is in dire straights and beholden to plutocratic parasites. I am of the opinion that I would rather tell my kids we tried something versus what is obviously not working.
But I'm of the opinion that I'd rather chase a dream and try, than accept the same policies I would have gotten anyway but with a D. checked next to the white house and wonder "Jee I wonder if I could have done better under Bernie."
More over why bother voting at all in that case?

(130 posts)This is sickening. You are throwing it all away to make an impossible point. Sanders doesn't have the presence to beat any of the republicans. They will slaughter us if Sanders is nominated.

(454 posts)They will slaughter us if its Hillary.
And why if faced with a Democrat and a Republican, both of whom support TTP TTIP ect.... both of whom will assuredly ruin the country so many for-bearers of mine worked hard to build. Maybe I just think I am obligated by the weight of history to at least try something.

!) You don't hope for that at all judging by your previous
statements on this board.
2) It is becoming now clear that a good percentage of
the dems are not willing to go with the status quo,
which HRC represents.
3) If the party continues this way of not listening to
the people, it will lose a good percentage of dems.
4)That won't bother you, because you don't want them
to be heard, but rather be happy to accuse them, when
HRC wil lose the GE.

(14,587 posts)"America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great."
Around 1980, with the so-called Reagan revolution, America began to cease to be good. It went on ceasing to be good through Reagan, H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. By the time Obama inherited to reins of government, this country was no longer good at anything but killing lots of people really fast, fouling the earth upon which we live and depend, and enriching a few billionaires.
In fact, America has become a giant engine for enriching the few at the expense of the many.
Bernie's viewpoints are not unrealistic, because when millions adopt such viewpoints, we get back on the path to being 'good.'
I'm even going to give you the benefit of the doubt and treat you as a fellow progressive. The American people are fed up and profoundly tired of being told we cannot use OUR tax dollars that WE pay in for programs that actually help US. Instead we are told we need to fund a forever war meant to enrich the MIC more than anything else, and just suck it up and watch our jobs be offshored and get nickel and dimed to death by predatory capitalists.
Unrealistic? I think not.
