2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWait. Three Caucus Results Decided by Coin Toss? Hillary Wins All Three. Affecting Outcome.
Just heard that three caucuses results were so close they decided to toss a coin. Hillary won all three coin tosses.
Right now, the race is down to 3 delegates between them.
If Bernie had won those coin tosses, he would be ahead right now.
Has this ever been done before??
Just heard on MSNBC that this doesn't normally happen.
Also that it is not a 'trivial' thing since when it's this close, those coin tosses can make the difference.
I wonder who tossed the coins?

(1,252 posts)That is how absurd it is. Is this acceptable to the voters? If so then we get the government we deserve. Why not just call a tie a tie and award the delegates equally or subtract them from the tally? RIGGED GAME.

(62,325 posts)something as important as an election with the toss of a coin, but here we are, tossing coins, 90 Precincts which could determine the outcome, not covered.
Last report I saw was this:

(20,453 posts)There's no way there will be cheating when so many are watching the event. That coin toss is a rotten way to decide a vote. It was used here in Allegheny county the last time I ran for office. The run off after I was run out of the primary was decided by coin toss (a tradition I've never respected.)

(62,325 posts)even some of them had gone his way. One I could overlook, even two, but SIX? And there may be more we are told.

(13,776 posts)I don't really mind. As a Bernie supporter I think I'd rather lose narrowly because of a rotten string of coin tosses (I read elsewhere that it was six, all going to Hillary) than win narrowly because of a good string of them. It certainly makes for a better story.
Having said that, I don't begrudge her the good luck. They were fair tosses and presumably there was no other way to decide.

(54,770 posts)I kinda figure the results would have essentially been the same had Sanders and Clinton split the coin tosses. I only saw information on one toss, but it was an area where Clinton had strong support.

(10,476 posts)Obviously Hillary's Wall Street connections gave her an "in" with the US Mint, so all the coins used to break the ties had nanochips that could be triggered to affect the balance when tossed.
What's Trey Gowdy's schedule like this week? Can we get the next witch hunt queued up?
