DURHAM, N.H. The boos are getting louder. The chants are getting more personal. The shouts from the crowd are getting more frequent.
<...>
Some of Clinton's most prominent supporters and fundraisers were unsettled by chants of shes a liar by Sanders supporters Monday at his caucus night rally in Des Moines and the loud booing that ensued when Clinton was shown on the large screens at the front of the room a reaction that appeared to prompt the nervous Sanders staff into turning off the televisions.

Why turn off the televisions? Let the world see what this campaign is all about.
This is a far cry from Obama's positive and uplifting 2008 campaign.
This is all about anger, frustration and indignation. It rubs off on supporters. This is not a positive campaign in my opinion.

Break the 99%'s back
When a lie comes along
You must spin it
Before it's posted too long
You must spin it
When Hillary's wrong
You must spin it
Now spin it
Use the smilie
Vote it up
Call it hate
Go backwards
Move the goal
Alert it
It's not too late
To spin it
Spin it good

(20,709 posts)I'm hoping that one of these days Bernie will make an effort to keep the ugliness in check. Sure, it's a campaign, emotions run high, as they always do. But this is getting out of hand.

(30,251 posts)Its a concern, and a lot of it depends on how Hillary reacts during the [primary] contest and after the contest. She can go after Bernie, but she has to go after him respectfully and acknowledge all the time how he brought these issues to the front-burner. Shes gotta keep doing that: We owe a debt of gratitude for bringing these topics to the forefront, said former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a staunch, longtime Clinton backer. Its a concern, but only if we let it become a concern."
Sanders is the one who should try to reign in his supporters. If they are rude and out of control, it behooves him to try to call for civility. I would expect Hillary to do the same if her supporters start booing and name calling Sanders at rallies or debates.

(26,117 posts)I think it's natural to be angry and frustrated at a system that benefits the 1% and does nothing for the rest of us.
That doesn't mean his campaign is "all about" anger, frustration and indignation. It's about working to improve the lives of millions of Americans, which seems positive to me.

It's sad to thin that if Hillary manages to get the nomination, they're going to get all these people they're smearing to march in lockstep behind her. Good luck with that. Hillary's smear campaign could actually put a Republican in the White House.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Inappropriate, over-the-top.saying that Sanders' campaign is "all about anger, frustration, and indignation" and that he is trying to hide this; and implying that he is responsible for the bad behavior of a small number of his supporters is over-the-top.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sat Feb 6, 2016, 07:16 PM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

His fans do chant "Liar Liar Liar" and it's his fans who are trying to spin.. Not Cali_Dem.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: post is nonsense but there is no rule against nonsense
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: When you don't have a clue, you really should not bother to open your mouth. Or post.
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Just more Clinton smear tactics disguised as news.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: As a Sandernista, this post boils my blood but I don't think it's hideable.
Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

People in this country have been shat upon by the establishment in this country for the last 30+ years.
They're tired, angry, and frustrated. They have finally found someone who understands their frustration, in Bernie Sanders. Some of that frustration spills over into harsh words, and sometimes, actions. That is the nature of our species.

(4,377 posts)After all the talk about how tough Clinton is and how Bernie would get torn apart by the smears from the right, now all we hear it that Bernie supporters are too mean and nasty.
This is a primary, if you want to play at this level then put on your big boy or big girl pants and strap in for the ride. This is NOTHING compared to how tough the rhetoric in the general will be like.
