What Albright said was: "There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other."

This is a quote that she has been saying for many many years.

For example:

+ She also repeated one of her famous quotes when talking about women:

“There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other.”

Amen sister. I couldn’t agree more to this. Sometimes I think I help other women out to the possible detriment of my own business (spending more time on their business than my own) but I’m convinced it will come back to me at some point, and investing in relationships is sooooo important.

The 2012 Women in the World Summit

“There are not enough women in power. Why are there so few women in power? Men.”

“There aren’t enough qualified women in the world? That’s the most bullshit thing I’ve ever heard.”

“There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other.”

-Madeline Albright

This is something she has been saying for a long time with respect to women.

Lets get this Albright story right

2 things:

First: Many are quoting the headline of Guardian-"Albright: 'special place in hell' for women who don't support Clinton"-which was wrong--trying to sensationalize the story I suspect
The actual story says---

**** “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other!”

So the OP out in gd-p (think there are several) misquotes Albright's quote.*************

Also Point # 2
NOTE***the title of the Guardian contradicts the actual story!!

This was the headline from the Guardian:
Albright: 'special place in hell' for women who don't support Clinton

Former secretary of state Madeleine Albright introduced Hillary Clinton at an event in New Hampshire on Saturday, telling the crowd and voters in general: “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other!”..............

Also--the context of the quote was abortion rights and the upcoming SC nominees:

....Albright was the first woman to be secretary of state and served during the presidency of Clinton’s husband, Bill. She closed her New Hampshire speech with an allusion to the ongoing struggle with Republicans over abortion rights.

“Young women have to support Hillary Clinton. The story is not over!” she said. “They’re going to want to push us back. Appointments to the supreme court make all the difference.

“It’s not done and you have to help. Hillary Clinton will always be there for you. And just remember, there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other.”.................

Her woman, no less.

Oh, and Hillary does not own the abortion issue. It's a Democratic Party position and subterfuge in this context. Do you think Bernie is against abortions/choice? Please. Stay relevant.

She has her opinion, which we all do. My opinion about her opinion is that she royally screwed up, regardless of how it is parsed and justified...(by Democrats?)

In the last NY State election for governor, Andrew Cuomo was primaried by a woman, Zephyr Teachout. Even though Teachout surprisingly garnered more than 30% of the vote in the primary, Clinton did not endorse the woman, she endorsed the man.

Teachout's policies are much more liberal than Cuomo's and she was virtually an unknown when she ran in the primary.

Now Teachout is running for Congress in the 19th CD in NY. She is a supporter of Sanders as well. This district could go either way.

Now I ask why Clinton did not support her in the primary, and whether or not Dr. Senator Secretary Clinton will endorse Teachout in the current election.

Did Clinton not support Teachout because she is "too liberal," or was it because she was not part of the vast Democratic machine here in NY? If she endorses Teachout is it because of Clinton's well known "evolution" or are there other reasons?

For instance, helping a woman stuck in the 20th century can be done two ways:

a) unstick the woman and drag her into the 21st century, kicking and screaming if need be.

b) endulge the woman to get her everything she wants, only so she can then work to the detriment of millions of other women - just because she is one of the last women on earth unwilling to contemplate 21st century solutions for 21st century problems.

I'm going with option a, Maddy. What about you?

When and how she uses that phrase is the most important part here - saying it in support of Hillary was a huge mistake and only pissed off a hell of a lot of women, including me.

Maybe they're angry that she's campaigning for Hillary?

Either Hillary or Bernie as president will be good for women.

Sarah Palin would not be good for women as president, despite being a woman.

I am not going to decide whom to vote for based on abortion because they have the exact same position on it. I'm voting for Bernie because I agree with him more often in areas where the two candidates don't agree. Specifically, trade agreements. I've lived through one and saw how it hurt the area where I lived.

My decision is not based on who is good for women because they're both good for women. But I don't see this campaign statement as being a big deal.
