'The former president, addressing a few hundred supporters at a junior high school here, portrayed his wifes opponent for the Democratic nomination as hypocritical, hermetically sealed and dishonest.'

Well isn't that a nice thing to hear from a former President?

(9,314 posts)His time has and come and gone but he does not realize that. Too many people have independently formed their own opinions of Bernie Sanders. Additionally, he has a reputation that speaks for itself. Voters today tend to trust their own gut rather than the words of someone promoting another candidate. I will leave it at that.

(14,733 posts)Making the same charges against Sanders as he did against Obama then, just as many of her followers have latched onto the 'cult', 'messiah', and similar words and phrases they used in 08 against Obama. Just not a lot of imagination, recycling the same old attacks while proclaiming victimhood status.

Perhaps the Clintons and the MSM don't realise his day is past.
Sadly, this reminds me of JEB! having his 90 year old Mom out campaigning for him.

(13,776 posts)I liked Bill Clinton as a president but I'm kind of tired of him now. His flaws are starker now that they're not set in contrast to his ridiculous Republican opponents of the 1990s.
As you said, his day is past, and it's kind of sad that he doesn't realize it.
Just like, apparently, Jeb and his mom don't seem to be aware that their day is past (not only that, the idea of a Bush monarchy is grotesque).

Think about it. The largest voting block in America now is Millennials. Bill is ancient history to them.

It's one thing when some folks on the internet a candidate has no control over get out of hand but another when the folks close to the candidate go over the top.

Team Hillary here would launch the latest talking points a day or two before I'd see it on TV from the Clinton camp there. The fact that it is moving so fast from 3+ degrees of separation to 0 is nothing short of astounding.

(8,175 posts)The Bernie e-mails come out after I read stories here. The choreographed Hillary attacks here come out before I hear it coming from her campaign. How do they do that?

(10,130 posts)MSNBC, New York Times and Washington Post seem in on it this time. Last time, Obama had them going to bat for him or leaning his way and about 50% of CNN and some % of the other mainstream networks - particularly NBC.
I don't recall that media unfairly trying to "get" Obama like they did Bernie (ie NYT, WaPo Editorials and almost no air time). Desmoines Register didn't run the 22 top secret emails story or put it anywhere it could easily be seen before the primary.
If it weren't for the internet, Bernie's campaign would be dead and the vast majority of America wouldn't know about it.
That's the scary part. If Clinton loses, the safest bet for the status quo to continue for the 1% might be to back Trump. So Bernie's grassroots is going to need to grow like a weed and cannot count on the mainstream media who have obviously sold out (or been bought depending on how you look at it).
Some will suggest that justifies abandoning Bernie and settling for Clinton. But since they evidently own her, when does it end? If we let Bernie get cut down without a fight, it might be a long time before anyone else steps up.

(19,926 posts)Smells of anger and desperation.
His heated remarks here reflected the frustration the Clintons felt two days before the primary in a state that has rewarded them in the past, but that appears ready to hand Mr. Sanders a decisive victory. Mr. Clinton seemed especially irritated that New Hampshire, after lifting his 1992 bid for the Democratic nomination and handing her a comeback win in 2008, would now abandon his wife.

"For the record, despite @BernieSanders deceptive ad to the contrary, @NashuaTelegraph has not endorsed any Dem prez candidate," wrote Roger Carroll on Twitter."

Anyone have a transcript of Bill's speech so we can see if he really said that paper endorsed Hillary, or if the NYT reporter just wasn't paying attention to his speech?

Its a hermetically sealed box. Its very effective. The system is rigged against you by the big banks, and both parties are in the thrall of the big banks. Anybody who takes money from Goldman Sachs couldnt possibly be president.
Tanks, Bill. Couldn't have said it better. Nice lumberjack shirt, btw. Is that what you wore when you talked to Wall Street execs?

1. I have heard this before - of course, he talks to Hillary and many others. He just doesn't talk to Wall Street, Big Oil and the like.
2. Big deal. He didn't receive millions in business SuperPac money like Hillary.
3. He doens't control what newspapers and supporters do. They are free people. Besides, Hillary's people (including the mangy old dog) are not exactly angels. And that's not her fault.

(8,745 posts)From 1992 LA Times (about 5 seconds of Googling):
Tsongas appears to have succeeded in positioning himself as the prime alternative for voters with questions about whether Clinton has the proper character to be President.
If Clinton cannot move the debate away from those questions--as he tried to do in three successive candidate forums over the past weekend--he faces a long, grueling struggle for the nomination. And, although Clinton's organizational efforts might win the contest, the effort could leave his camp drained for the general election.
The problem for Clinton goes deeper than the oft-mentioned unsubstantiated allegations of marital infidelity or the questions about his draft status during the Vietnam War. Both of those issues have damaged his campaign, but they have done so largely by feeding an overall sense many voters seem to have that Clinton cannot be fully trusted, that he deserves the nickname long leveled at him by Arkansas opponents: "Slick Willie."
