Related: About this forumWhy didn't Obama bring up Mitt's missing tax returns or foreign investments?
These issues would have demonstrated Mitt's lack of transparency and real priorities.

(5,811 posts)That seemed to be the game PBO was playing, which means any day now we will find out mittnocchio did not pay taxes for 10 years. I think PBO played it perfectly. In competitive situations other than boxing, rope-a-dope is used to describe strategies in which one party purposely puts itself in what appears to be a losing position, attempting thereby to become the eventual victor.

(36,437 posts)But I absolutely agree with the Obama campaign's decision not to do 1) tax returns, 2) foreign investments, 3) 47%. Those are not points for a debate. Those are points for commercials.
I think it's very easy for white folks to misjudge the very fine line Obama has to walk on aggressiveness. He often hits it well. Tonight, he was way off, but direct confrontation on those three points just looks churlish. I agree with Will Pitt that Obama missed some opportunities, particularly on the $716 Billion. But on the points you bring up, no way. It's not for a face to face.
