2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum"Suspending" their campaign
WTF? They're not suspending. They lost. They will continue to lose. They are dropping out of the campaign. They are ceasing their efforts to become president. They are not taking a break, only to resume their campaigns later.
One more thing. The reference to "it's not my time" is also ridiculous. For some of these folks, it will never be their time. It wasn't their time in 2012 or 2008 or 2004 or 2000 or. . . , and it will never be their time. Santorum will never be president. Huckabee will never be president. Fiorina will never be president. It is not their time and it will never be their time.
Mealy-mouthed shit like "suspending" and "not my time" is absurd and I, for one, am fed up with it. These people are dropping out of the campaign. They lost. End of story. Now go away and never darken our doors again.

(115,734 posts)they can still accept campaign contributions, which most of them will need. Everybody knows it means they are dropping out.

(10,749 posts)I didn't realize that. What fools are going to contribute now simply so that these buffoons can pay their campaign bills? Wow! That's kind of like buying losing lottery tickets and expecting them to pay off.

It's all about the money to these also rans who NEVER had a chance to win the primary, let alone the election.
As I see it, there are 5 candidates, any one of which could be our next President. The remaining still in the hunt, are there purely to raise money, and get free travel and press while they pretend they are in it to win it.
Sanders, Clinton, Trump, Cruz & Rubio are still in the hunt. Christie, Shrub Part II, Carson, and his 2nd place finish notwithstanding, Kasich, are just biding their time until it's their turn to Quit......errrrrrr.......suspend their campaigns.

(42,862 posts)... maybe it helps them when it comes to their campaign debts (or not paying them). I'm not 100% sure, but I think that has something to do with it.

(3,194 posts)We'll continue to let you fleece your donors so you can cover the costs of those 1st class plane tickets, and all the other costs associated with doing nothing for several months, while campaigning for a job you had ZERO chance of getting.
