(8,462 posts)You take a course of antibiotics and you're good to go.
A virus like the rethuglican clown car is quite a bit more worrisome and the vaccine requires herd immunity we don't really have, them being all antivaxers aka Fox News watchers.

(41,694 posts)If antibiotics aren't started within 24 hours of first symptoms, you're usually a goner.

(35,015 posts)I am really disheartened by the swiftboating. I don't want to feel forced to vote for someone who acts like a Republican.
cali
(114,904 posts)at least for me, is step back and think about a republican president with a republican congress. That means that the most vulnerable in our society would be ravaged.
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)I think I've reached the point of no return with her.
I would also contend that the Republicans haven't engaged in the Swiftboatting that we saw with photo-gate.
Democrat on Democrat Swiftboatting. Unprecedented.
I think I'm allowed my very unprecedented feels.

(36,063 posts)"ANY" puts her in competition with Abraham Lincoln, and Teddy Roosevelt. She has a resume, but not that sort of reputation.
And "ANY" also puts her in competition with any unknown republicans who appear in the future, although the republican party with a future is pretty hard to imagine.

(2,872 posts)I won't vote for someone I wouldn't willingly give my life for. I don't believe she understands what sending people to die for country really means, given her foreign policy record. If we go to war again under her, I don't believe it will be a war in defense of our Constitution. If we go to war again under her, I don't believe it will be for defending our allies. And I certainly don't believe that if we go to war under her again, it won't result in either the end of the world, or the forwarding of the tired tripe about American Exceptionalism.
I raised my hand and swore an oath to protect the United States, and the Constitution. I do not believe she stands for either, and as such, I can't vote for her.

(114,904 posts)And she's better than any republican on Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.
Le Taz Hot
(22,271 posts)She has NO coattails. We lose even more seats in the Senate and the House and if you think the Republican-led Congress/Senate has been obstructionist with Obama, you ain't seen nothin' yet. They HATE her. The country HATES her. She'll never reach the White House.
cali
(114,904 posts)In fact, I think she'll significantly depress the democratic and dem oriented vote.
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)And I'm not accusing you of being like this per se. I do get what you are saying. However, Hillary has made it so, so difficult. And that is not your fault.
But it reminds me of the codependent, weak mommy figure who will sporadically call a family meeting and say, "Ok, I know daddy has behaved badly. Really badly. However, he's the head of our family. And we're much better off with his daily emotional assaults and the beatings--than we are without him. Besides, he's much better than Roy down the street. Roy is a meth head. At least daddy doesn't do meth. He just beats us all after drinking a gallon of Jim Beam. Now put on your smiles and count your blessings."
That's what it feels like to me. It makes me sick to my stomach.

(1,443 posts)on these huge issues she is decidely republican
cali
(114,904 posts)All of the republicans are far fucking worse.
gyroscope
(1,443 posts)not really significantly better. on others may be even worse.
the biggest issues at stake are foreign policy, defense budget, trade, Wall Street taxation and regulation.
she takes the republican position on all those things.

(2,188 posts)Trump is much better on war. He strongly opposed the Iraq war. Both Trump and Cruz oppose a no-fly zone in Syria. Those issues fall into foreign policy. Carson also is quite anti-war, opposing even Afghanistan.
On Wall Street, Cruz and Trump are adamantly against bailouts. Possibly Carson too. Clinton is very pro-Wall Street.
Trump is against NAFTA and the TPP, so he is quite a bit better on trade. Cruz supported it at first, now he says he's against it, so that's pretty much the exact same position as her.

(12,685 posts)smell the coffee. I get it that they desperately want Clinton, but at what cost? A Republican in the Whitehouse? They don't seem to care.
The selling Clinton is not really directed at you. The whole Establishment is trying to sell Clinton. This is only the primary. Can you imagine how bad it is going to be after the Republicans go after her in the GE?

(3,764 posts)I'm a Bernie fan but yes, Hillary is better than any of the Republicans. So is Martin O'Malley, even though he's dropped out.

(279 posts)but not by much. The courts are the only possible reason I will hold my nose and vote for HRC...that being said I'm tired of being blackmailed over the courts while the Democratic establishment shows no interest in changing the game and absolutely no interest in most progressive issues (especially the economic issues)....tired of the lip service and my nose hurts from holding it every election.
djean111
(14,255 posts)or are asking Bernie supporters to just meekly accept the Clinton ratfucking, why is this an issue, or why does it even need to be said? Lot if this going around today, seems to me. Takes away from the actual issues. Seems to me it would be more useful after the nominee is chosen.
I am not ever going to be okay with her fondness for war, the TPP, fracking, cluster bombs, keeping the ACA intact for private insurance, or closeness with Wall Street and Kissinger, increased H-1B visas.
