2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe best part of Bernie's victory speech was him pledging to support the Dem nominee WHOMEVER it is.
Bernie AGAIN pledged to support the Dem nominee whomever it is and urged everyone to rally around that nominee to keep the White house away from the RePukes. That was the best part of his speech because he again put country above himself. And every single one of us, whether a Hillary supporter or a Bernie supporter, should do exactly what Bernie says. If he wins, support him. And if Hillary is the nominee, support her. Simple as that. Sitting out or, heaven forbid, going over to the dark side to support the R nominee would be both stupid and insane.

(13,570 posts)he put the nation above himself. Are you so far out on the fringe that the fact that Bernie has pledged, REPEATEDLY, to support Hillary if she wins is bugging you to the point of making such snarky, elitist remarks?

Now if only we can all follow his example.

(10,879 posts)Yes, some hardcore supporters of either will be very disappointed.
A few will be angry and let down enuf to stay home in November.
But, the vast number will be motivated to vote against Trump, Cruz, or whichever disgusting fascist that repugs put up.

(16,064 posts)stupid and insane is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results....that's what I have been doing by voting for candidates I feel are not fit for the job. No more. We got in this mess by voting for someone just because they may (or may not) be better then the other guy.
Fuck that. If it takes hitting bottom to wake people up , so be it. I will not vote for an establishment candidate.

(11,990 posts)The point being made, I believe, is that with many believing (and polls showing) that Sanders has a better chance of beating Trump in November than Hillary does, a vote for Hillary in the primary increases the chance of a President Trump being elected in November.

(11,990 posts)At one of the debates or forums (I think Maddows' forum?), Hillary answered the question of "will you support the Democratic nominee, whoever it is" by saying something like "I will be the Democratic nominee." It was said in a light-hearted way, but the point remains, she avoided committing to supporting anyone else. As far as I've seen, she has not committed to supporting Sanders should he win the nomination.
