Watch Corporate America Turn A Room Full Of Workers Into Bernie Sanders And Donald Trump Supporters

The past few years have been very good for United Technologies. The contractor does billions of dollars a year in business with the federal government. CEO Gregory Hayes pulled down nearly $10 million in 2014, and over $20 million the year before. On Thursday, the company reported $7.6 billion in profits, up from $6.2 billion the year before, and $5.7 billion the year before that. In October, United Technologies even expanded its stock buyback program to $12 billion. Spending the company's money to purchase its own stock elevates the value of its share prices. United Technologies was so flush with cash that it could burn money to boost returns for its investors.

Surely this largesse would trickle down to its rank-and-file employees, right?

Not exactly.

On Wednesday, Carrier, the air conditioner manufacturing wing of United Technologies, told workers at its Indianapolis plant that it would be outsourcing their jobs to Monterrey, Mexico.

"Throughout the transition, we must remain committed to manufacturing the same high-quality products," an executive can be heard insisting in a video of the announcement.

"Yeah, fuck you!" a member of the crowd responds.

"Please quiet down," the official says. "This was an extremely difficult decision."

"Was it?!"

Watch the reaction in the video below.

I've long been repulsed by the use of this term to justify the most morally repugnant decisions imaginable in the name of maximizing profits above all else.

Carrier has proven they can make boatloads of money IN AMERICA for their "Captains of Industry" at the top calling all the shots, but their mission is to make the MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF PROFITS POSSIBLE while doing business anywhere on this planet.

AT LONG LAST, AMERICAN CORPORATIONS, HAVE YOU NO SENSE OF DECENCY?

Do these Corporate overlords not think that those WITH NOTHING LEFT TO LOOSE, might resort to equally despicable things like KIDNAPPING THEIR CHILDREN, as was done somewhat in the GREAT DEPRESSION in the thirties?

Or apply some "second amendment solutions" to worms like Lloyd Blankfein and Presidential cuff links Dimon?

I'm not advocating such violence and thankfully it hasn't happened, but with America as gun crazy and unhinged as they are now, it doesn't seem entirely implausible, does it?

Which reminds me, aren't we long overdue for the next mass murder by semi-automatic weapons? Maybe the mass murderers are waiting for this cold snap to break?

Carrier and Trane make air conditioners for home and business.

The EPA laws are phasing out the freon in those units, which is making existing freon more expensive every time a unit needs a refill
AND
will be illegal to use by 2020.
Instead, new units will be needed which are designed to not use freon but some other type of coolant.

Therefore, in the next 5 years, Carrier will have a LOT of new unit orders.

I know this because my A/C guy, who I know well and trust, has warned me.
Which is why the 20 year old unit in our house was just replaced instead of repaired when it broke down in Dec.

So Carrier is looking at millions of $$$$ when people replace the millions of units. Down in the South, 99% of the homes have and need A/C.

NAFTA, WTO, TPP anyone? Rethugs certainly didn't complain and are responsible for they're own fuck America agreements.

Hill is proposing a $125 billion economic revitalization plan. It supposedly creates new jobs doing....what exactly. Our trade policies have gutted the only part of our economy capable of providing huge numbers of good paying jobs. Trade policies hubby championed and she has not denounced.

United Technologies not only relies on the federal government for billions of dollars in revenue, it contributes millions of dollars a year to well over 100 nonprofits, from the centrist Brookings Institution think tank, to partisan groups including the Democratic Governors Association and the Republican Governors Association, to anti-tax organizations and straight-up corporate lobbying front groups. These donations embed the company deeply within Beltway culture, securing it an aura of elite respectability.
