Sanders Supporters Told Not To Attend HKonJ March in NC

Yesterday I woke up to a shocking email from the State Coordinator for North Carolina for Bernie Sanders. It put the brakes on three weeks of work organizing to bring Bernie supporters together for HKonJ, the Mass Moral March, tomorrow. Aisha Dew wrote:

"Please take down all HK on J events from social media. Rev. Barber does not want us to attend the event. He asked us to take the event down off of all social media."

Our organization has been contacted by campaigns about their presence at the Moral March HKonJ People's Assembly GOTV Rally. While all are welcome—republicans, democrats, independents—this is not a campaign or political rally for any campaign. We have asked persons to join us who are concerned about voting rights.

I would have been pretty certain that Bernie supporters are concerned about voting rights. After all, they WANT more voters out. The more voters, the better Bernie does. Shrug. If Team Hillary got the same treatment, fine. If not, looks like the Rev has decided he has more of a shot playing by the Establishment rules.

apparently, this is a non partisan march, and they don't want people there actively campaigning for anyone.

but everyone is welcome.

more bullshit from a likely clinton operative

9. NAACP-NC press release:

Feb 2016

NAACP-NC press release:
RALEIGH – On Saturday, February 13th the NC NAACP and Forward Together Moral Movement will convene people from across the state, the nation and the political spectrum to participate in the 10th Annual Moral March on Raleigh and HKonJ People's Assembly. Many campaigns have reached out to the NC NAACP to discuss their participation in the non-partisan Moral March and GOTV Rally. It is necessary to emphasize that Saturday's event will welcome all who are concerned about the moral state of our politics, to hear directly from people who have been harmed by extremist policies. It will not be a political campaign for any candidate or party. The purpose of the Moral March will be to empower all who are present to organize and mobilize for active engagement in the voting process. Participants are being asked to bring signs and placards advocating for voting rights. The formation of a fusion coalition that is diverse in age, political affiliation, race, gender, religion, education, economic status, etc., is necessary to place a moral lens at the center of our democracy. The aim is not to achieve an electoral moment but to build an anti-racism, anti-poverty, anti-discrimination, pro-justice, pro-labor, pro-education movement that is rooted in the love of self and others for the good of the whole.”
