Why Hillary is cruel and wrong to block child refugees from Central America

During the recent debate Hillary Clinton emphasized that children fleeing violence in Central America should be sent back in order "to send a message" for families not to send their children. The journey can be very dangerous. It's not an easy question and there is no perfect solution. Any solution is messy, and Clinton is right to say accepting the refugees does create some problems.

So what we have here is a matter of judgement. Does anybody really think that families would risk sending their children on a dangerous journey unless they were already facing a horribly dangerous situation back in their home country? It's obviously something people would do only out of utter desperation.

It is even worse considering the role the United States has played in helping create the refugee crisis. US support for violent and illegitimate governments in Latin America, including Hillary Clinton's role in backing an illegal coup government in Honduras, helped create the conditions for a flood of refugees. "Free trade" policies like NAFTA have led to economic displacement in countries like Mexico as small farmers and landless people were pushed off their land to make room for more profitable things.

The United States helped create the problem and we have a responsibility to people fleeing from the crises areas. It is just cruel and wrong to send back the child refugees "to send a message".

If we want to send a message how about actually helping these people and stop destroying their countries by supporting their shitty governments and forcing shitty trade deals on them that only benefit the 1% and hurt working people down there and also here at home. That would really send a message.

O'Malley defends position on immigrant children

'Governor Martin O'Malley came under fire Wednesday for advocating for thousands of children entering the U.S. illegally while simultaneously trying to wave the White House off a potential shelter in Westminster, Md.

CNN and others reported that O'Malley spoke Friday with White House adviser Cecilia Muñoz and requested that the administration reconsider its assessment of a former Army Reserve Center in Carroll County. A White House official confirmed the conversation to The Sun but declined to comment on the nature of the call.

Late last week, at a meeting of the National Governors Association in Nashville, O'Malley urged compassion for the children and argued that they receive due process before being deported. The comments came as the Obama administration is seeking to alter legal protections for the children in order to expedite their removal.

O'Malley is considering a run for president and has occasionally attempted to stake out positions to the left of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who polls show currently dominates the potential field of Democratic candidates in 2016.

"We are not a country that should turn children away and send them back to certain death," O'Malley said on Friday.'

She is not the president, yet. How the hell did she block refugees? She stated publicly that the US should welcome refugees and not send them back. This is a lie.
