Between 2008-2012, United Healthcare, Cigna and Aetna have donated to nearly all Democrats running for Congress.
Guess what single payer, Bernie's plan, does? It largely gets rid of private healthcare premiums.

(6,829 posts)this election really is different as the success of the Sanders and tRump campaigns demonstrate - people are sick of the status quo.
They do not want a "busines as usual" candidate.
These endorsements only serve to underscore that she's one of them, an insider. Anecdotally I'm hearing these endorsements are turning undecided people off and as NH and IA demonstrate - they aren't helping her. She had a TON of endorsements in both of those states from governors, newspapers, state elected officials, and assorted other very-important-people.
Not helping
I believe the lack of endorsements for Bernie plays into the meme that he can't be bought and he's not "one of them" - perfect for an anti-establishment candidate.
He can win without them imo

(4,008 posts)Here's a thought perhaps they just don't want to endorse him. They have all worked with him for decades and one has to wonder why none of his "co-workers" will stand up with him. Money ...don't think so.

(31,413 posts)Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders received his first endorsement from a member of Congress on Wednesday, with word that veteran Arizona Democrat Raul Grijalva would back the Vermont senator.
Grijalva, a seven-term congressman from Tucson, is one of the leading progressives on Capitol Hill and the top Democrat on the Natural Resources Committee.
In an interview with the Guardian, Grijalva said that he didnt make his endorsement for political reasons, even though it comes on the eve of the first Democratic debate and deadline for Joe Biden to make a final decision about mounting a campaign. Instead, he said that he felt strongly that if I am going to make a commitment to [Sanders] message that I do it prior to those other things. Grijalva insisted this is not contrived and I dont want it to appear that way.
The Arizona Democrat said what attracted him to Sanders was the Vermont senators consistency throughout the years. People might or might not like what he has to say, said Grijalva, but the fact is he has said it repeatedly with people and its resonating with people, and I think his message is something that I wanted to reinforce. Grijalva also pointed out he liked that fact that Sanders has not been disparaging about his opponents ... I think thats a winning race. Your ideas versus theirs.
